Hey All,

I am building a website on weebly and its a gas..a real psychedelic shack where Im at...anyway i have some studio pics and i uploaded some songs...Unfortunately I am having problems as people cant download the songs as they are getting a "protected content" response.. I am using windows media to upload my tunes...I made some changes which might have done the trick... I unchecked the "Protect" box and I am hoping it did the trick...If anyone has some time can you try downloading the songs and let me know which ones could be downloaded, if any..

I tried separate solutions to some of the songs so I can figure out how to download them for public access.

heres my site: www.artschaerercombo.com

Can't download any. Which media player do you have? Can you upload them as MP3s? I wouldn't use wma files. I have wma and still can't play them.

by right-clicking and "save target as" I've downloaded one of the files and saved it on my computer, but when I try to open it (play with windows media player, that is) I can't play it. I've checked the file properties and it is "Protected" .
So what ever you are doing, if you want to have freely accessable audio files on your site, then you need to encode your audio files, save the as "non-preotected" and then upload them to your server and then provide links to those files on your pages.
I never used wma files myself , so I don't know details about how exactly to do this. It must be an easy thing to do, just know how.
ALSO, making mp3s would be the format of choice , if you ask me.
Why not to make mp3s?

good luck :)

how do i make mp3s?

talk about embarrassing..i really don't know what an mp3 is...let alone how to turn my tunes into mp3 format...is it something i can do without I tunes or a similar site?

i have a friend coming by in a few days who is going to help me get the tunes posted...but when i say i don't like working with computers it aint no act...its a fact...

this post will probably get a lot of laffs from people under 53 years old, eh?

"dude this guy don't even know what a mp3 is"

An MP3 is just a smaller compressed file. Usually takes up less space.

If you have windows media player what you need to do is click on "tools" up top on the menu bar then click on "options" A window will pop up, click on the "rip music" tab. On that page you can change the format that music from the cd to your computer is ripped to. Some earlier players like mine don't have an option to change it to MP3. So it's going to depend on which windows media player you have.

Thanks,Thanks,Thanks!!

you guys are great...thats why i always post in the analog forum...kinda like the bar "Cheers", where i can feel comfortable with my elbow on the bar shootin the breeze...

will try some of your suggestions....really want to get the music up..

i did change the format on the site which looks better.

I do have a few pics but i want to show off my new Fostex M-80..someone asked about the teac if it was, I think, a 3300...Its a 2300sx....got it free from an old friend in exchange for transferring all his old reel to reels to CD via my masterlink..the guy is 84 and to see him listening to stuff he recorded of his kids almost 40 years ago was great..

will get the tunes up as soon as I can...

really appreciate you all and the advice..

I like your drum kit. Those cymbals look like good vintage ones. Are they?
