So...I have come down to two options for a new pre amp for myself.

A RNP or the presonus-MP20 (maybe the vxp). They are both around the same price. Which would you guys recommend. I am using it for vox only.

Or Anyone have any other ideas for this price range. I was checking out the rnc and rnp combo aswell. But I have plenty of compression plug-ins would it be worth my while to pic up an RNC aswell?...

Thanks

Geoff

This may not be all that helpful since I only know one of the units, but I do have an RNP and I really like it for vocals.

As far as the presonus is concerned... the eureka is a better pre than the one you mentioned for arround the same price but between the two Ill bet the RNP is a good choice...having faith in what others are posting here.

I was checking that eureka out. It's not available at the store I shop at tho. But I may wait to see what it has to offer. The rnp seems to get a bunch of love. Big Kenny?? What do you mean what for??

Music style...... screamers, crooners, wailers, women, tenors, greeks, scorpios............
I've got an hhb radius 50 that sounds great, but I can't use it on quiet acoustic stuff (might be me)
toft atc-2 on the other hand ($950 or so) will do anything I ask it to
Focusrite vmp = great channel strip but has chinese pots and I nave had to replace them (warrantied)
that safe sound thing sounds interesting too, eh?
In His Name

Rapper...Only rappers...Maybe a female vocal maybe..

thats exactly what i use mine for. with that said i want something more aggressive to contrast it. very transparent tons of head room though

Thanks alot guys. Much appreciated. I listened to one of your tracks Teacher and was impressed with it. I will take a look at the drawmer strip aswell. I haven't really paid attention to their stuff. Thanks

justa FYI my channel strip consists of RNP, RNC and Speck ASC EQ

Hmmm...I was looking at picking up an rnc aswell with the rack mount...It would be a whole new learning experiance for me to figuire out how to use the stuff proper but hey thats the fun. How exactly would you record a track without the rnc then run it back thru to compress and eq after. Like I would with my plug-ins. Is that even worth it?? I just want to expand my options.

Geoff

do it in the mix like you suggested...my go to vox plugs are RCL, and Ren Vox together...they may not be the best choice for everything but they won't suck either...YMMV
