Sounds pretty tight to me. All the drums are well balanced.

thanks and sorry about the sloppy playing and timing. anyone else?

Nice snare sound. The toms sound good as well, especially the floor tom. I'm not crazy about the kick, it rings a bit too much for my taste. I'd also goose the level just a bit. Cymbals sound good.

So thats what a pair of MXL603's would sound like. Nice. What are your other mics your using on the kit and yes, the kik was a little boooomy.

Now if someone could so the same for us with a pair of KSM27's that would be nice.

Only if it was on the same kit & recording chain.

Tony

P.S. It sounds like the Kick was clipping the pre there is more to it than just a boom.

my whole chain is the mxl603s in x - y position through an m-audia dmp3. an sm57 on the snare. sennheiser e604s on all 3 toms and an audix d6 on the kick going through a blue robbie (which a very nice vocal tube pre) all going into a digi002 rack.

my job today is to tweak the bass drum, mic placememt ..etc.

i have the resonant head off with an evans emad on the beater side with the damper on and a couple of moon gels on the beater side. i am using a DW felt beater. i have the mic inside the drum pointing 2-3 inches from the beater.

any suggestions of how to fix the kick to make it sound tighter/better?
