Hi people. I started this thread just to say HI and see how much "life" there is here. I guess this would be my introduction post. I'm a 52 year old guy who was in a budding, well connected 3 piece garage band in 1980. New wave music like Devo, Blondie, and Oingo Boingo were hot as well as the full on punk scene which I listened to quite a bit. K-ROQ radio in LA was the station of choice and especially the Rodney Binginheimer show, which played all kinds of "hear it nowhere else" new stuff. A week before Van Halens "Sinners Swing Tour" in LA..... I had an encounter with Yah..... the spirit of God and had to dissengage from everything else that was going on and secure my understanding and relationship with this newfound entity before I could continue doing anything else. Needless to say, I quit the band and began a journey of study, prayer, and fellowship which has been more precious to me than anything ..... however.....
a part of me still suffers this unborn creativity known as song writing. Its been 31 years, and the guitar player and I who seemed to have such a wonderful creative magic are wanting to try and do some music together again. We don't want to be big rock stars like we did in the old days. We just want to create together.....using the medium of music....... whatever it is that we will create at this stage of our lives, as amatuers. For fun and because we love music. But we live hundreds of miles apart.
And so..... we are going to try and learn ways to get the sounds that are in our spirits to each other and see if their is still a spark. If there is still the chemistry that we know has never gone away. We want to write at least one song together ..... and see what happens. So I googled ..... Home recording equipment and got this place. I know next to nothing about the digital recording world and all its improvements. Went to Guitar Center here in town today and talked to the guy about "home recording" ....just to learn abit. Looks like I can get started for about $300 on what I'm hopin to do. Hope no one minds the many questions that I'm sure are going to come from this keyboard as I move forward.
My name is Mike
