Whyte Ice

The Next Vanilla Ice
I'm in the market to buy a new mixer. I currently own a Behringer MX1604A mixer for a long while and now I've decided to move on from this cheap piece of equipment.

I've looked at some Mackie's, quite nice and they have almost an identical Behringer design but what about it's sound? I hope mackies don't have piece of crap pre's like the behringer does.

I also looked at some mixers by Carvin and they look pretty nice and in the price range i'm looking for.

Since its impossible for me to actually try these things out, I'm coming to you guys for answers. You seem to know your equipment and I need a new mixer.

Hi,

Mackie pre's (well at least not their pro pre's) are similar to your Beringher. I would look into a used Soundcraft Ghost or something in that order if you can. You will be happy with the EQ and pre's on that board. I think Mackie is great for the price but don't feel the eq is musical and the pre's are lacking. I am of couse refering to the analogue 8 buss boards without the pro pre's.
