Actually it was a really bargain 25 English Shekels.
After an initial test it seems really nice. Fairly flat response curve a bit hyped in the top end but not overly.
I still have a lot of playing to do after i finish teaching. Later Henry.
I threw it up on the front of my little german solid state combo without any effort
This is a little sample
All guitars are untreated (obviously lead has some reverb from the combos tank)
bass and drums midi
here you go mate heres another.
All instruments recorded with the GLS ES57
Just as recorded No EQ, Effects, Mastering. Just the raw deal.
Differant pre this time though thats the only differance from the first
on the first gls test i used a cheap and nasty tube pre on my solid state combo. I can get a bit more distorted sound from the nasty tube pre.
on the second i used an Alice mic amp pak Line driver.
I originally bought it to have a pre with enough gain to get a decent result with Ribbon mics. Its a bit toppy but it does a great job most of the time to my ears.
I just scoured Evil bay. kept it in my searches and bobs your uncle, Fanny's your aunt.
On a lucky day I picked up a twin unit for less than 60 shekels UK + postage
Heres another clip this time mostly for the Bass trial.
Again all instruments recorded using the GLS ES 57
midi drums.
No effects,EQ or mastering.
Please excuse the sloppy playing
