I use Reaper. I've been running since V4.6, now on V7. It comes with a good selection of plugins, is stingy with your computer resources and does most everything that the "big boys" do. It's well worth the $60 fee which would get you through V8.xx (which will be several years of updates). No "365" subscription crap to deal with and if you have more than one computer, you can have it on more than one. I have it on my laptop, the desktop machine with my audio interface, and on my email/banking/document computer.
Thanks Rich, I’ll check it out

I was hoping I could create my sounds on the plug in and then record onto the DP. Maybe it’s not possible. Which DAW did you go with?
@Slouching Raymond nailed it.
You can also use the headphone jack as an output to the DP, though the Line Out is most desirable.

New guy here! Stumbled in bc I was (still am) looking for information about the old Tascsm PS-M1 (I think that's the name...) PSU adapter - more specifically, how to make one.
I stopped playing the drums 20 years ago right after reaching semi-professional level. Started writing music a year ago. I use Pro Tools and write most stuff ITB (write some stuff on electric guitar or a CBG but can't really play either instrument) but recently starting to experiment OTB using a Zoom H5, an old cassette recorder, KORG monotribe, BASTL KASTLE 2 FX Wizard and Koala Sampler.
Back in the day I recorded drums on somewhere between 100 - 200 songs, probably 200+ songs, but I was always too insecure to learn the tech and gear even though I had really good opportunities to do so (I now suspect I have ADHD bc of how everything turned out for me and the way I learn, or don't learn). So I'm here to ask someone really stupid questions because I'm not afraid to ask them anymore and I've got a lot of catching up to do.
My Tascam that needs power is a MM-1 mixer that I bought bc of its 20 post fader direct outs. I'm experimenting with resonance boxes (name?) and want to custom make one box per tone and for simplicity control each tone with a fader before spending a fortune on other fancier ways to control/play.
I'm Swedish, pushing 50 and to be honest, a bit crazy!

Welcome!
The power supply you need is a TASCAM PS-M1. It's a +/- 10V supply to the board.
In order to avoid blowing up your mixer, blowing up your house, blowing yourself up, I would suggest looking on Reverb, eBay or some other site and buy one. They are still available.

Thank you for helping me! Much appreciated!

I've looked at those already and as I'm not in a good financial situation at the moment I'm gonna build one as it would cost me around 200 USD to buy one and have it delivered to me. My mixer, as my preliminary findings look so far, don't use the 7V AC. So I'm looking at getting a 230 V AC to 10VDC 1A transformer. Will then adjust and ad components if I get too much noise, heat build up etc.
Last time I checked the energy in an exploding MM1 was that of a small cracker so It'll say "pof" and there will be some smoke. I'll be fine!
Kidding aside, will monitor for heat and double check everything. I also have a nephew who has been building stuff like this for decades so I'll have him take a look before I connect and hit the switch. And, ehm, that just sounds like I'm gonna blow it up, doesn't it!? 🤔

Hi folks, Alex here :) I am rediscovering my love of tape.. playing with four tracks and tape loops. It’s so great to find this community ❤️

First thing, the mixer used +/- 10 VDC, not 10VDC. Different beast altogether.
Second, you won't find a DC transformer. Transformers are AC in/ AC out. You have to build a rectifier circuit to convert AC to DC. Which you don't want.
Third, you will need a circuit to convert whatever voltage you get out of the transformer to the 10VAC that you need for the mixer.

Here's a pic of the rear of your mixer.

Hey everyone new to the whole process. I started college to get my bachelor's degree in music production and im here because of an assignment im working on. I am going to stick around because this is pretty awesome.

Hi! My name is Mason! I’m a new member and I have a new song that I’d love to get some feedback on. Thanks!
I listened, Mason. A bit dodgy at the start, but good singing further in.
A very polished track. It is not my thing though. A bit bland for me. Some will love it though.
