Hey everyone,

Im Max, im definitely a newbie to recording. im a highschool student and i want to pursue a career in recording engineer after college (if it all works out).

i want to attend college but money has been a bit tight for a while. Right now i am only recording with a 6 year old Dell and Steinberg CI2 interface with Cubase Elements (even though it didnt completely download)

Im hoping that my family is surprising me this christmas with a macbook pro.. Im starting to take recording lessons with the owner of a music lesson studio that i occasionally work for in January.

I hope its okay for me to ask some recording related questions pertaining to gear and techniques here and there as well as help others out as best i can (if i even can haha)

Thanks everyone,
-Max

Welcome Max, that is why this site it here. Do look through the threads and stickies as many questions have already been answered. Lot of good information here from equipment, to techniques, to sound treatments. So, after a little research, if you still don't have the answer, ask away.

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and a total newbie when it comes to recording. I picked up the drums about 5 years ago for fun and have since started jamming with a couple friends. We recently wrote our first song and I'm hoping to get it on disk. We've come to find that recording is a difficult and complex tax so I'm looking forward to getting some helpful info from everyone.

Interesting the number of people who come here and do the 'hi, i'm xxxx' thing and weeks later have no further posts...

Hi, new to the forum, semi-new to recording. Having myself a read through various posts to get ideas and have already made a thread. Thanks for having me! :)

Hey there everyone! My name is Jed. I'm a total newbie to the recording environment. I've got about $3k I'm looking to invest in an interface, some mics, and a few other things. MacPro is coming after I get my tax return. Can someone advise me where to post about this? Thanks everyone!

Hey everyone, just started on the forum and I'm new to recording. I'm interested in creating some A Cappella tracks and hopefully do other recordings in the future. Looking forward to learning a lot through this forum!

Mornin all. My name is David, aka Stogie D. 59 years old & a analog recording fan. I have been recording on some kind of setup for many years. I play guitar & know just enough on other instruments to be annoying :) I haven't figured how to post music here yet, this is my 4th attempt to post an intro, but some of my tracks can be heard on Myspace in the Artists section under David Hancock. Recordings on 2 track cassette up to 16 track reel to reel. There you will find the good, the bad & the really ugly. But that's what I love about analog, what you play is what you get. Killer site loaded with info. If you can't find an answer here, you probably wont find it. Homerecording.com rocks!!! IMG_1063.webp

Hi all, my name is Jacopo, living in London and born in Italy. I'm here cause after years with not a lot of spare time I decided to restart recording myself and build a mini-studio in my room where to work on it!

I'm here to get information, as for suggestions and if possible give my contribute and help with other people with my same passions.

Hey. Another newbie joins your ranks, all the way from London, Englandshire. Long-time muso returning to writing and recording after a huge, creative haitus. Things have moved on apace and I'm here to learn! :)

Can any of you teach me to post new thread? Any input would be very meaningful :)

Go to the forum of your choosing and at the top there is a "post new post" or something like that and away you go.

New kid on the block. Just getting started. Decent musician but very little experience doing home recording. Hoping to gain some knowledge here.

Current gear for home recording:
Macbook Pro Retina
Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 interface
Yamaha HS8 monitors

At this time I probably won't get a dedicated recording mixer as I already have a pretty good 16 channel P/A mixer for my live sound which I am hoping will do for the time being as I have already spent my limited recording gear budget buying the interface and monitors.

Hello all who care to read :D

my name is Chet. I'm a professional audio engineer and studio musician living in the Tampa, FL area and just looking for some Forums to talk shop, mixes, recording gear, and all that other good stuff :)

I've been doing home recording for 8 years and finally have a decent enough setup to get the sounds that I want and get a professional sounding mix. Nice to meet you all and look forward to talking audio with you!

Hello Folks,

Just joined up to get some ideas on home recording. I have a pretty good background in audio. I've been a gear slut for audio playback equipment for 25 years. Took up the classical guitar about seven years ago and now want to make some recordings of myself so I don't actually have to play live in front of someone (I know, pitiful). My stereo room is fully treated on walls and ceilings to absorb or diffuse as required so my recordings will be done there. I have a simple but effective equipment list that should be sufficient for the time being. Knowing me the way I do, it will soon be impossible to resist the temptation to upgrade. For now, I have an Apogee Quartet, a Rode NT-4 stereo mike and my trusty iMac/Garage Band. Off we go....!
