Hey guys! Ronny here. Too many recording problems finally led me to this forum :P Hope to find the solutions here and share some knowledge! Cheers!

Hi. I'm Gary and fairly new to proper sound recording.

I'm here because I want to learn more about how to improve my techniques, particularly in the realm of recording stage performances and film sound. I'm a photographer/film maker at heart and appreciate the value of good sound, but only recently been able to make headway into buying sound recording gear. Two shotgun condenser mics and a newly acquired Tascam US600 audio interface are my building blocks and would appreciate the help, advice and experience of other members as I proceed on my journey.

I don't have big budgets (sometimes no budget!) so it's a well placed and educated piece at a time..........

Hi Everyone

Hi I'm The Sterling Gent (Gary). Just started making my own music. Please check out and follow my sounds. I'm on soundcloud, FB and twitter - All 'The Sterling Gent'

Let me know what you think. Will start building up more tunes when I have time :)

- Peace

Hi, I'm scott, I've joined here because I'm going to be recording my band for the first time and am looking for some help :)

The name is Vegaz, and im a new jack....i need tips on mixing!!! im a pretty fast learner,so talk to me!!!!

hi everybody

hi everybody
my name is bob and i live in freehold new jersey, you may know the name of my town since bruce springsteen was born and raised her and always talks about the place.
i'm no kid just learning the basics. i'm 55 years old and have spent most of my life making music. even though the guys i work with think i'm real advanced, i feel i have so much to learn. this site looks like a great place to get answers when you just can't figure out the problem. and there are always problems.
i have a home studio. it's real simple but it's my favorite place on earth. actually with the way computers have taken over all i have in the studio are two couches and a computer table and a mixing board.
i have put out three cd's so far.
to be honest i have gotten so much better that they sound so amateur to me. i have had a real creative year and i can't wait to finish what i am working on now. one album is all pop songs. modern alternative rock but still pop songs. i am always searching for that song of joy. the song that just makes you feel good when you hear it
i took in my best friends oldest child four years ago when he got kicked out of his house. he is a drug addict and has so many mental problems. but i love him so much and i take care of him the best i can and i always try to get him off drugs. and i know that one day he will. but last year i went in the studio and in one day i wrote nine songs. i took the week off of work and by the end i had 34 songs. and they are so different from anything i ever wrote. they are very electronic but yet piano based. and they are emotional. i work with a lot of young people who like working with me cause i can make things sound modern. and they tell me " this shit's dope"
that's their highest compliment
so i have a lot of work to complete
and i'm guessing i will come here when i need a solution
so i'm real glad i found you
so thanks in advance
he'res hoping everyone has a weekend full of making music
and it's real nice to meet all of you
bob

i once read an interview with lindsey buckingham of fleetwood mac. he had taken over producing the bands records and was asked why. he replied that he was paying someone to turn the knobs until it sounded good and he figured he could turn the knobs himself until it sounded good.
so much of mixing is just turning those knobs ( or the computer equivalent) you have to search for what sounds good to your ears
everybody has there own set of rules though. i tend to cut the bass with eq on practically every track except the bass and the kick drum. i tend to use compression on every track but each track uses a different amount
i like to send the vocals through a delay and then send the delay through the reverb
i like to make a duplicate track of lead vocals and then shift one of the tracks in time slightly for a thicker richer sound
i like to mute tracks to bring the song down to minimum instrument and then bring them back for dynamics in the mix ( but there should always be dynamics in the performance also)
i try to keep reverb to a minimum
even though my computer is loaded with plug ins i still use my old outboard gear that has a sound that is valuable to me
these are just some tips. if you have specific questions just ask. but trust yourself. you are after a sound that only you can hear in your head. so twist those knobs until it sounds like what you want

Hey everyone
Guess I'm the new kid on the block.
Call me whatever you want, don't really give a darn just recognize my music for what it is, freedom.
I need and would like to ask for assistance with vocal mixing. To get a good idea of what I'm talking about, if anyone is interested in taking someone under their wing, please message me and I can send you my latest album link and I can tell you what I'm working with.
I'm a 23 year old, 6 year experience (with production and recording) musician from Detroit. I work in all genre's except gospel.
Hope to hear from someone soon.

Wazzup Zakum? You can get your post count up to 10 HERE. Then you can just share the link here on the site. MP3 Clinic will be the best place to ask for assistance with your mixes. I'm willing to take a listen myself. :D

Welcome!

Jimmy

Hello
I'm Ray of a band just formed called WAVE 2000 based in Derby UK. We write all our own music and want to get our songs out there to the world. I have just started using a BOSS MICRO which I really like as I can take it anywhere fastened to my belt. I completed a recording and then as instructed in the manual sent it to my PC as an MP3 which I will then use in my sound editor on screen. I recorded on all 4 actual tracks and no virtual tracks. When I had played the MP3 on the PC the vocals were missing. I am baffled! Any solution to this would be much appreciated.- Ray

New to the forum? Say hello, tell us a little about your self. Meet the gang :p

Welcome to HomeRecording Forum! :guitar:

Hi everyone, Scott here. Just wanted to stick my head in and introduce myself. I've been out of the recording scene for a little while now (I started out using 1.5" tape, this whole computer based thing is all new to me) but now that I'm a single man again, it's time to get the studio I've always put off having.

You'll probably get a lot of silly questions from me over the coming months as I first build a PC and then get my self kitted out.

Anyway, I hope to get to know you all in the mean time.

Hey. New to the forum. My names Steve. Love any kind of music as long as it's not on day radio... Lying on a beach with a gun in my hand sounds like a good intro... Learning the way of the studio maestros (hence here), looking for good tips, a wannabe artist, hips jiving skanking loves music, plays many a guitar, tries howling every now and then, needs to break the chains of modern slavery one beat at a time. Is learning Ableton Live and still on version 5. Old rocker, liking the new breeds. Love this forum so far. Made a post already and got great feedback. Thanks guys for the awesome site/space.

Hi guys I'm Houda! I'm from Australia and have decided to join this community :) I'm 17 if anyone's wondering. Nice to meet you all :D

Hi all..., I am newbie to this forum and glad to be a part of this... I don't have much knowledge but would like to gain and share whatever I have.

Hello, I'm Reva. I love to sing, sing, sing, and sing. Began recording so that I could sing more. I now have a degree in electronic arts, audio, I won't tell you from where because it's pretty much a joke. I think I've learned more on here in a month just by asking questions and reading threads than I ever did in a class room. Thanks for allowing us new, undereducated peeps to ask silly, simple questions, without judgement!
