Hello Everyone-
Brand new member here. I work as a hypnotherapist and want to be able to record the hypnosis part of my sessions with clients when working with them in person and when working with them remotely via Skype or FaceTime. I want to wear a headset with microphone and for my client to also use a headset with microphone so that we are both immersed in an aural environment that is isolated from the noise of traffic outside my office. I want there to be a background music track that plays during the session that I can fade in and out.
I will be using a Behringer Q802USB mixer, which has 2 microphone inputs. When working with clients in my office the mic leads from the headsets will plug into them. I will be plugging my iPod into one of the Line In inputs on the mixer to provide the background music track. My headset is an Audio Technica BPHS1 Broadcast Headset. I will be recording to a device like my iPhone during in-person sessions or to Logic Pro X on my iMac during remote sessions via Skype or FaceTime.
I am encountering a few challenges with this whole arrangement and am hoping for some sage advice.
When connecting my mixer to the computer via USB and working with someone via FaceTime, I cannot figure out how to set everything up to where both myself and my client can hear the mix of my voice and the music track, along with the client's voice. I have tried various combinations of the buttons on the mixer ("To Phones / CTRL RM" and "To Main Mix" under the USB/2-Track module of the mixer) but can only get to where either:
1 - My client can hear the mix of my voice and the music and I can hear the client but I cannot hear the mix, or
2 - I can hear the mix and the client but the client cannot hear me.
The other issue is that when I try to record the mix of my voice and background music into Logic Pro X on my iMac or to record via the 2-track Out of the mixer to an external recording device, the sound level is very low and the background music track is not audible at all.
Regarding trying to record in Logic Pro X, in my iMac System Preferences I have both sound input and output set to USB Audio CODEC. In Logic audio preferences I have Core Audio enabled and both the output and input device set to USB Audio CODEC.
I am feeling pretty "dead in the water" here so thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!
