Very nice -- I love that burgundy matte finish. If the pickups sound good, it's probably best to leave them alone and get a lot of good tracks with them.

My son has the lowest end of Epi SGs -- the "bully" -- the pickups sounded pretty weak and bad, and so I bet yours are the nicer ones. We put a Seymour Duncan something-or-other in the neck position, and for his birthday, I got him a Gibson "dirty fingers" and we just put it in the bridge position last weekend. Sounds great, but it's a little hot, so he has to turn down the guitar volume a lot.

But anyway, he plays the Bully all the time, and he's even going to play it at his school's annual Scottish festival in a couple of months -- at the basketball stadium in Houston (how's he getting gigs like that!?).

As far as the neck goes, I swear the neck on the Bully is sturdier than the neck on my Gibson SG Supreme, which has already broke and been glued back -- the shipper left the strings tight when he shipped it, and UPS applied their usual delicacy to handling it -- something about the angle of the head makes them want to pop off under tension/impact -- sucks

Thanks Joe:)

That's what I've heard about EPIs, and if I'm not mistaken, the cheapest Les Pauls don't have the name written in the headstock, so I guess, if it carries the name, it must be good. I understand the basics, just as with drums, you pay for quality, and in guitars, you pay for finish, electronics (p'ups, pots, switches, cables, jacks) and name. I know it's not a Gibson Les Paul, but it's MORE than good enough for me:D. It would be a blasphemy to own a real one, I can't even play:rolleyes:

Right now I've been doing lots of sound tests, making new patches in my multieffects pedal, to get the right sound. The p'ups that came with it seem to work great, so I don't know if I'll be upgrading them. After playing this guitar for just under a week, my Jackson sounds so thin:eek:

I'm glad you're getting one too:) and fitting it with EMGs; if a great player like you uses an EPI, then I'm happy I own one too!

Happy early B day, and I hope you get your EPI:D

Cheers!

Thanks Antichef:)

Congrats on your son's gig!

I saw a vid of this guitarist explaining the differences of Gibs and Epis, and basically said, that it all came down to the Gibson P'ups being hotter.

Cheers!
