I am 20 going on 21 very soon. I have been playing guitar for 9 years. I also play bass, djembe, piano/keyboard. I have been recording and all it entails for about 5 years. I am REALLY into music and recording and mixing and techniques and etc....So I found this place.
I am mostly self taught in my recording skills and am proud. But at the same time I am HUNGRY for as much knowledge as I can shove into my head. I have countless books and magazines. I learned and came up with stuff my own way as well. I learned to get the best out of what I got I think.
My current setup is: Fostex VF08 8 track Digital Multitracker-connected to->Behringer Eurorack 802A 4 track mixer. I have a Shure SM58. With A Shure KSM27 on the way.
I record and master all on the Fostex-->I then bring the Fostex and hook it to my computer and transfer it in to Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and WAV LAB Esstenials and make .WAV files and MP3 files for net.
***NOW MY PROBLEM: I can only Master 6 tracks on my Fostex and that limits me ALOT. I can record on 12 tracks but only 6 can be mastered so I am running out of room. If I record on all 12 then I can still bring um in but they don't have the Mastered effects on them. See? So the quaility aint as good.
So I want to have any and all comments or feedback on anything I posted. But I would also like to know what should I do know? I am serious about recording. Trying to form band and everything as well.
What is the best Digital Multitracker and mixer I should buy? Do I need to upgrade? Should I just get a new and bigger Fostex? Do I need a mixer? I want help with all these.
***MY SITE: To hear some of my stuff and what I produce go to my sig or: http://www.myspace.com/tonynash
^^"Wasting Away" is mastered and what I feel is prob the best quailty I got yet in 5 years. The other songs are non mastered. They are quieter and not as good sounding right???
I know I gave a lot of info and asked to many questions but I need help...kindive at a crossroads here.
I look forward to being a fixture here and am really glad I found this lil' place on the net. Thanks and peace!
