Hi guys...here's a new project that I think is at the critique stage. I originally sent it to Sam to get some vocals from him, but he was like "PM me when you write something that's good...then maybe we'll talk." So I had to write some vocals myself. I understand though...no, really, Sam. I understand. Too good for me now that you're all moved into your new New York place, with all those girls and big record execs. If you need me I'll be hangin' out with the Dutch people...

I was serious about the strong language, but not about Sam. He was in the moving process. :)

Hopefully this doesn't frighten anyone. I was kinda vicariously and proudly venting for my girlfriend who finally stood up to a long time self-absorbed control freak of a friend who tried to break us up when we first got together yada yada yada...

Thanks all!

Downloading...... Downloading..... I am not going easy on anyone anymore so be prepared.......

Yes. I am listening.. I can hold off if you have something to change.

*downloading*

You were right about The Matrix Reloaded....it's a huuuuge mountain of crap. Replace the fighting for singing & dancing and you've got an awfully bad musical. Attack of the clones of Jesus Christ Superman...

At first listen I couldn't connect with the flow of the song and the vocals seemed confusing, that is, after it kicks in. After a few listens I got it. I would love to hear more power in the kick or maybe the drums in general but definitely the kick.

After a few listens it becomes addictive! The overall recording kicks ass and is some of the best I have heard you do. You have a great sound on the clean and distortion guitar and it’s perfect for this song. As usual you have managed to create a complex yet very listen-able (is that a word?) song and you continue to inspire me.

All my equipment is in boxes because I am moving into a new house. Listening to this is frustrating because I get the urge to run straight home and start recording something new!

Congrats on another masterpiece. You are a pro, brother!

Yeah baby.. that's a good one.

It reminds me of "Korn" meets "Nightmare before Christmas" if you know what I mean and that's a good thing IMO.

I like the double kick in the middle.

I would start placing odd's on when Sluice gets signed.

Wow, that little section around 2:30 is very cool...

Your usual solid performance. My one reservation would be that the vox don't sound as well-seperated from the rest of the mix as usual with your tunes - I feel like they get stepped on in places by the guitars, etc.

Not saying it doesn't work as is, just that I've heard you do better as far as eq-ing the instruments into their own space.

Chris

Thanks a lot to both of you. I very much appreciate the objective critique, Scott.

Khomputer, I am a HUGE Danny Elfman fan, but not really a Korn fan. Though i kinda dug them when they first came out...you know...before they became MTV's poster band. I could sing the entire Nightmare soundtrack for you, though not as well as Danny could. I have it memorized. Fucking brilliant music.

The solo kicks ass...

Not sure about the parlando.

No ideas on the mix, as I'm listening on crappy headphones....hey, I think I heard a pop (wink wink, Trip ;) )

Groucho, thanks...gotcha. That's why it's at the critique stage...

These guitars are a little bit heavier than I usually go...so I've taken a slightly different approach to the vocal. But I know it needs a good week off before a remix, so comments like yours will come in very handy then. Thanks!

OK, now that I've looked that word up, I can say thanks for that opinion. (you mean right before the clean bridge, right?) I still like it myself, because it felt so frigging good to belt it out. Maybe I'll hate it later.

Well I mean the cool Korn, right after their first album where they hadn't rehashed the same thing like 10x over.

Yeah I love Elfman too just amazing stuff. It's the way your songs don't follow the vs chorus vs mode but instead meander through different movements that gives it the more movie music element.

Oh man...I just realized the goddam Dutch people are teaching me English now.

OK smartass. :)

I'm posting a goddamn new MP3 of this in about 15 minutes with some low cut from the lead vocal. Thanks Groucho. You were right.

Just exported out of Cakewalk..and converting files. T minus 10 minutes. I'll adjust the NWR description field to indicate so.
