Ok, so I have this guitar with quite a history. I got it as a christmas present like, 5 years ago. My first 'real' electric guitar (squire totally isn't counting). It was an old westwood les paul. Complete junk pickups, but it wasn't a squire, so I was incredibly excited. Well then, one day when my mom was in my room, she knocked over the stand and the neck snapped. Fixed it, cost like $75. Then, later, at a show the neck snapped (cool for the stage effect, sucked cause our set was over, haha). I was like, fuck it, if I can fix it, cool. So I did. The neck was really rough though, but it played. Eventually, it started warping, so I just trashed the neck, but I loved the body cause it was like a tank. Anyways, I gave itto my uncle to rebuild, which he got some nice seymour duncan jazz pickups for it, but the neck he got didn't fit, so he gave up. Fast forward to tonight. He gave me the guitar back, just the body, neck, and pickups. Decided, hey, let's see if I can do this. Walah! I sanded down the neck to fit perfectly! Anyways, here she is, with no pickups in it (or anything, for that matter..

I shall keep you all updated. This makes guitar #7.. I think I have a problem I need to come to terms with..

You have too many guitars. I doubt your wife approves. And one of them is hers and she demands that you stop considering it yours.

You smell awful, you need to shower more.

It's TOTALLY at least half mine. :(

Not at all actually. When she bought it, she hardly knew you.

You just helped her pick it out. Would that mean that the guitar strap is half James's? Not at all.

It's not yours. Get over it.

Blasphemy. It spends all of it's time at my house!

Only because her little bother will use it and break it if it didn't live elsewhere.

Returning to topic for a moment...I have absolutely no experience with Les Paul type guitars, but that looks interesting. Was it a set neck or bolt on neck?

Bolt on. The oriignal snapped twice. That was an ebay one my uncle bought, but the width didn't match the guitar body, os he gave up on it. I sanded it to hell, and it fits and feels like it should play fine! So now I just need to rewire it and such, get some new tuning pegs, and we'll be in business for my #10.. err.. #9 guitar..

I hope that it is still aligned correctly in the pocket. It's pretty easy to relocate a bridge on a strat style guitar. Good luck, lovebirds.

I was gonna suggest a Carvin bolt on neck with a traditional 3+3 headstock. It'll play like a dream. You can trick it out with different woods and inlays and frets. I'd go for mahogony neck, ebony board, stainless steel jumbo frets, no inlays and Sperzels. Tung oil finish it yourself; it's way easy (Light don't like that stuff, though.)

Haha, it was free, so I can't complain. It looks like it should play fine, I ran a string roughly from where the bridge is to the nut and it looked like the action may be just a little high, but nothing I can't fix up. If it doesn't work though, I may be checking out those Carvins..
