Well if you want to get technical "Fender" equipment hasn't been made since January of 1965. But why whine about it... they still make some great guitars for the money.

Interesting thought. However, if we are using the word "technical" and getting "technical," how about this... the guitar I bought is a Fender Telecaster. It is also an esquire series, a custom, a special edition, and carved. But, "technically" it is a Fender Telecaster. A real Fender Telecaster. No matter who really owns, makes, distributes, etc the model or brand of guitar I personally now own, it still happens to be recognized by the trademark of Fender Telecaster. So, it is a real Fender, and a real Telecaster. It sure is a far cry from what was originally a Telecaster, but that's another discussion.

BTW, no hard feelings:cool: Your comment only bothered me in that it wasn't terribly constructive. Just trying to share some info with someone who wanted some.

Hey Ignition-
my band played in Ellensburg a gillion years ago.

It was that Chinese restaurant that becomes a rock club at night. I wonder if its still there...?

Alan -

If it is, I haven't heard of it :) I've been here for about 15 years or so, and can't think of any place like that. Only places to catch live music around here anymore are the bars, and the Elks club.

Squier Telecaster Custom

I bought a made by Fender Telecaster in 1970. Back then, it was mostly thought of as a country/western guitar. It was nice. Like a typical young, dummy, I got the hots for something else and traded it in. Mistake!

Three decades and some change later, I wanted something with a nice Fender maple neck and a couple of humbucking pickups. I looked around at Fender's offerings, but didn't want to spend that much money. I stumbled upon an ad for the Squier Telecaster Custom, thought it over and ordered it. I could always send it back if I didn't like it, right?

I love this guitar! I can't say it long or loud enough. Finally, after all of these years, I found a guitar that I truly love. If you haven't tried one of these, give it a go somewhere. You need to get your hands on one of these.

I'm retired. While I'm not rich, I can pretty much afford to buy any guitar that I want. I didn't expect much after reading people's squawks about Squier. I am astounded at this guitar. The neck is perfection. The tone of the two humbuckers is not at all what I expected. It's better. Maybe mine is a freak, I don't know, but I'll never part with it.

I've owned Les Paul Customs (the real thing) and SG Specials (also the real thing). Neither had the brass balls sound of this Squier Telecaster Custom.

If you are looking for a traditional Telecaster sound, do not buy this guitar. If you are looking for something that is capable of making a Strat sound a bit wimpy, this is the axe.

My amps are a Behringer GX212 and a Pignose G60VR. The Pignose is the amp that makes this axe shine, while the Behringer gives it a good semi-acoustic type of presence that is nice too.

Did I mention that it is beautiful too? Yup!

What kind of humbuckers does that thing have in it?

I bought a Tele on Friday, my first electric. It is a custom special flame top with a beautiful arched body and dual humbuckers. I think I am in love.
