I posted this in the Newbie section, too, but I figured there would be more action here.
Okay:
I just ditched my Tascam US-428 and have installed an Echo Mia Midi card in my Dell (running Sonar 3.0) which has two 1/4' outs. These need to go to my Hafler amp, which powers my monitors. Where do I plug in my headphones? If I plug them into the Hafler, the music still comes out of my speakers, which is fine playing back, but not so much when I want to track.
What do I do?
Do I use a Y 1/4" males (out of the sound card) to a stereo female. Then I could plug headphones in when I want to track. When I wanted to playback or mix I could unplug the headphones and plug in the monitors (which I could plug in via a similar Y cable coming from the HAfler amp?
Is this my only option? Do I need a mixer? I'd rather not have one; I am trying to simplify my setup.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Steve
