Scott and myself have a new virtual jam just about done apart from the intro which we're still mulling over.
How's the overall mix and general presentation? Any observations would be great...
Unique - sounds like Bowie in the 80s - not sure the guitars work together - not sure if they do work - drums are bit flat -
to me it sounds like something is missing in the middle - the vocals are great - harmonies really work.
I like it. The mid section got a little crazy which I loved. It was like an 80’s Mr. Bungle. I have no issues with the mix. I have no issues with the intro because that gritty fuzz tone on the guitar is really cool.
Boost up the volume quite a bit on that center guitar at the end that starts at 3:24. It’s already centered; make it front and center. It sounds cool but it’s quiet so the song ends on kind of a weak note.
That’s all I got for you. Nice work!
On the fifth listen - I think the drums are a style and not flat - the vocals are fantastic. Thanks Papanate. Yeah the guitars sound great solo'd together, but perhaps less so in the context of the whole track. I went back and muted one of them, it's certainly added a lot more space.
The drums are just gated kick and snare with a little bit of overhead to bring in some metalwork. Any ideas on how to unflatten them?
Great collaboration. Enjoyed it very much!

Overall I thought it sounded excellent. I liked all the sounds. Liked the brooding/growling mood to the mix.
A couple of nits...
The vocals are a bit out front. Not overly so, but just a bit. You could probably pull them back a db or two if you wanted. But only if you wanted. I thought I caught a pitchy spot or two.
I agree with Papanate that the drums were "flat." Maybe play with the dynamics so they are a bit more "un-flat" (if that's a word).
All of this is only suggestions. I thought it sounded great.
The fanfare hits me like a cold shower.
Excellent clarity on the vox.
You sing my world.
The chorus needs a shot of jack.
I get it -- but it doesn't rise to my level of want.
Maybe some filler arpeggios or haunting choral dying virgins

Yeah different alright. Scott implements a system of order and coherence over my more haphazard jams, and it seems to work well.Love this, have been away for awhile, this is different then much of the stuff I remember from you...very, cool, love the change up around 2:00...great sounds, arrangment...sounds like Kevin Gilbert/Toy Matinee 4 thumbs way up!

Didn't just remind me of Bowie but also a bit of solo plant (80s, early 90s), particularly with regards to the guitar tones. Nice way to break up the song in the middle and then nicely brought back in with the main theme. Good song man.
to me, there sounds like some queens of the stone age influence.
dig the harmonies.
i like that it goes from tight rhythms, to more loose stuff, like tin machine.
