how about...err....no guitar?

that will certainly change the way most of us write songs

Al

I'd like to collaborate with that 'other' crawdad guy. you know--the one that used to write uptempo blues and rock songs instead of all this depressing shit. If you hear from him, have him get in touch with me...

Soudns cool, but whoever is with me would lose.

Plus it could go wrong, very wrong if you pair like..... Mr.Boyzone with Mr.Metallica. But I guess that would be interesting ;)

What about the best LIVE recording, Ie. only one track :D

I like the idea....Id love to participate if noone minds collabing with someone whos musician/engineering skills suck......

Maybe we should go together then :)
Atleast then neither of us gets the blame lol

Hey hey now....

I like your depressing sh#t.

:D

(btw... I had that tune stuck in my head for a couple days, and on a whim (that my wife suggested, no less) I wrote some parody lyrics to it just for kicks... called it, "Dreaming My Wife Away." I was thinkin' of posting it, if I ever had the time to record it... but it never happened. Just thought I'd let you know... you're already getting the "Wierd Al" treatment from some of your listeners. :D)

WATYF--you just made my whole day! Thats too funny! If nothing else, PM me the lyrics. Thats hilarious. I do that kind of stuff with my own tunes too, especially when I get sick of them!

I'm always down for a collab. I like the random pairing idea. There's no telling what will happen.

Oh, I'm definitely not sick of it... I just like to put silly lyrics to songs sometimes... :p

P.S. you have PM. ;)

lol...man, you and I should "pair up" now in an attempt to break some kind of world record for MOST VOCAL PARTS EVER RECORDED BY 2 PEOPLE, BY TWO PEOPLE EVER.

You triple track yours, I'll double track mine, you do some octaves, I'll handle the 5ths, we'll split the 7ths, and everything else that happens we'll just call an "inverted 9th."

If I join in, it could be even more massive. My harmonies sometimes take up to 30 tracks, LOL :D (and I love doubling leads too)

SLuiCE, who picks the participants?

Sounds interesting
Collabs are one of the finest things this board offers.

Nail something down and lets get moving.

Yep, do it. I loved the last challenge. I'm in for this one too!

I don't think we should "pick" participants Pedullist. I'm thinking that would defeat the purpose.

I think the matches should be drawn randomly. The idea is to hopefully bring some styles together into something unique, fresh.

Don't Worry Sluice I'm on iT! I've assigned each one of us to one of my SDRAM bitmaps, I'll just generate random numbers to set up the pairings.

Sheesh! Looks like SOMEBODY lucked out!

man I feel bad for craw though, i wouldn't want to work with that guy in a million years. What a hack!

Count me in.

How will we do it,320 mp3's?
Might be the best way so we can collab overseas.
Unless somebody has a server we can use.

We should get it rolling though.
Mabey give a week for everybody that wants to be in to say so.
Then give out the matches, and allow a month or so for it to happen.
(Even a month is going to be tough for me!)
Just my 2 cents.

Hey Tom,how are you going to pick them, just mix em up in a hat and pick two?:D

Pete

That's a good point. It's going to take a lot longer to get this done than the other ones.
Deciding on material, uploading and downloading tracks, mixing decisions etc...Some of you guys may be able to whip this off quick, but I can see it potentially taking a while too.

That was hilarious Khompy! :D

Well Pete, looks like Khompy just took care of the pairing. ;)

Actually the plan you just described is exactly what I typed and deleted from the orignal post of this thread. I deleted because I didn't want people to start interpreting it as a formal challenge. I knew we needed some time to recoup from HRC 2 (As it shall hitherto be known...or not).

But ya, I was thinking hat draw or something. I wanted to have an arm wrestling tournament to decide pairs, but it's tough to do on the net. Besides I'm like a 165 lbs...I'd lose.

Whoever works with me is going to have to work fast and efficiently. I'm going to Montana for the first week of July. Gonna have a beer with Slack2k hopefully while I'm there. Maybe get him drunk enough to record something with me. :)

Ya Doug, Pete read my mind....A month would be a good amount of time...not too long, not too short.

sounds like a good idea. a good fall/winter idea. I vote for;

everyone in says so by end of June-

pairings drawn mid July-

tunz in by end of Aug.-

or something like that. with vacation months, jamfests, and the such, I for one would not be in a hurry.

about this challenge, any thought as to who uses what to record. would there be any advantage or dis with say one pairing using computers, another not, and one using computer and his pair not.
did that make any since? I don't think it would, but maybe worth mentioning.

OOhh.. and with our bass problems, we might just tackle the old "HARSHEST MIX EVER" award too!! :D

I'll bring my plugins.
Yeah, you can record 'Spem in Alium' by Thomas Talis. This medieval precursor to 5.1 stereo has 40 distinct vocal parts, eight each in 5 separate choirs spread throughout the room.
