My set up is modest and simple a couple of m audio pci delta interfaces and a really old ibm pc and my revox a77 (half track 7.5 15 ips). Cheap pres cheap mics and newly installed acoustic treatment and a lot of experimentation and enthusiasm.
I mostly use the revox for recording my amped guitars i find it has a better sound, dont ask me what it is it just sounds better to my ears, same with vocals. I mostly do a simultanious take through the revox and output to daw. Choose which take i think best suits the track or a blend and presto.
How ever tonight i discovered (another experiment) that if i plug the electric guitar through the revoxs hi z mic input and the output to a guitar effects processor . amp input i can get a good sound (still might need a bit of tweeking the gain staging)
I can then record the amp with a mic straight to daw and have a dry guitar sound on tape that i can later reamp if i dont like the way it sounds in the mix(either in
guitar rig by dumping to daw or by external processor as before and micing the amp again)
I really like to render my midi drum tracks to tape too as it gives a great room feel right off the bat.
and dump back to daw
Tape is opening up new possibilitys for me every week.
I'm slowly finding its strengths and weaknesses.
I bought the tape machine mostly as a mastering aid but i havent done an awful lot of experimentation so far so i have that to look forward to.
Finding good tape has been a battle too.

Do you have an analogue set up to Crowsoffritz ? If so how do you use yours?
