I am considering the Presonus Firebox as the audio interface instead of the M-Audio Pro USB because I read that interfaces with firewire are better..

What do you guys think about this?

There's that dirty word again. Firewire vs. USB is a debate that you can read all sorts of things about. Easily. There's lots of info out there. So better depends entirely on your needs. That being said, I used a couple of different USB interfaces in the past, and just recently upgraded to an eight channel focusrite Saffire Pro 40 - a firewire interface - because it better fit my needs.
If you are just starting out, almost any interface is gonna be fine. Whatever you buy, know that if you put in the time to learn it and work on recording a lot, you will be able to make good sounds with it. Also know that, whatever you buy, there will come a point where you feel like it's not enough for what you want to do and that an upgrade is necessary.:)
