They told me people are complaining a lot about this card and it's possible it's going defect very soon and so on, but it was quite cheap so I bought it... Guillemot Isis.

The first month it worked well, then it stopped working from one day to another. Brought it to the electro-technician, he fixed some poor (factory-made) connections and it worked well again..

..for two weeks. Brought it back again, now other stuff was causing short circuit and all, I didn't do anything wrong (set it up and didn't touch any connections after that) but again some other parts failed to work. He replaced them.

Set it all back, and it caused a terrible smell in my studio and the cable was abnormal hot. Guess what; brought it back. Two days later he phoned up; I could put it in the trashbin.

I have phoned Guillemot several times, but they didn't see an option of replacement etc.

I will never buy something such cheap again, and in any case nothing from Guillemot anymore. Next week I get my Terratec 88 mt..

... and it won't work with anything beyond Windows 98se. No drivers are made nor will ever be made for 2000/XP.

I liked the card when it came ot, cheap and nice to learn to work with a hdr-card. Latency, converters and 16bit were drawback though.

<edit> Not too sure about the Terratec either.. why not try a STAudio C-port. It'll give you two preamps, very low latency and ok converters for a little more (about 450$)

yea somehow I managed to not spend my money on one of those, they were selling them really cheaply at around xmas time. I guess unload them is more likely the term.

I asked a sales guy at axe music where they had them, about it. He said he wouldnt use one because it was crap. But then you might want one if you want multiple inputs. Im really not too sure if I want to talk to that particular guy again.

Instead I went for a lot more $ in a delta 66

yeah.. sales people are never negative about the expensive stuff in their store, only about the cheap substitutes..

i currently own an isis and i hate that POS. i want to sell it, but i feel i will have to discount heavily because i don't want to unload THAT much evil on an unsuspecting person... nobody deserves that torture.

win98SE drivers were crap, too. too bad i payed about $300 for the card when it first came out a couple years back. live and learn.

delta 1010 - breakout box

hey maybe you guys can gut those Isis thingies, buy the light version of the delta 1010, and use the gutted Isis as a breakout box for your 1010, saving you the extra cost of buying the full version of the 1010, and putting your hard earned dollars to work :D. Just a crazy thought mind you, you never know ;).

It sucks when they sell crap like that, there is way to much crap out there. The thing is is that they know it too. Here's a thread on some "loudspeakers" I was looking into not long ago.

Not too much animated discussion there but the point is, is that there is some absolute garbage out there, and to watch out for it.

Maybe there should be a whole new forum added...something like..."Don't Ever Buy This Fucking Shit"

heh heh, that 1010 idea is not half bad. my tweaking and do-it-yourself skills are a little dismal... but maybe after my first couple of electronics projects (i wanna build myself some headphone amps).

there is a lot of crap out there. that is why this forum is a godsend -- i'm never going to purchase another piece of expensive equipment without either A) auditioning it first or B) hearing good or bad about it from user experiences.

I also used to have one. They sucked hardcore. Before I bought it, I emailed their tech support to see when WIN2K drivers would come out, they said at the sametime win2k came out. I bought the card. They Lied. I emailed tons of times after that and I only occassionally got a response. They would see "we didn't lie, we didn't know it would be so difficult to make drivers...."

They suck.

Sell the POS.

Buy an SB LIVE and you will even be better off....
