HEY GUYS,
I AM THINKING ABOUT BUYING A NEUMAN TLM103,I CANT REALLY AFFORD IT,(LAYAWAY BABY),BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT IF I CAN GET A KICKIN SOUND.THE QUESTION -IS IT WORTH IT?
I WANT IT FOR GENERAL USE.PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.
THANKS

NEUMANN

BY THE WAY,I HAVE AN OCTAVA I BOUGHT AT GUITAR CENTER,ENOUGH SAID!

I KNOW,NEUMANN ,NOT NEUMAN,OR NEUMAM,THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU WORK ON A ROOF ALL DAY IN THE COLD,BRAIN FRY!

Very Nice Choice

If I may say so myself; considering I have a matched-pair of them and are my all-around, general purpose large diaphragm fixed cardioid mics.

I really don't know what else to say other than, yes, it is very much worth it.

But what other mics do you have already? Just making sure you at least have an SM57 or two at already...

Also, make sure you at least have a (what I call) Mackie or Mackie-equivalent quality or ART Tube MP or ART Tube MP-equivalent quality preamp too.

Oh

And you might not want to use ALL caps, it gets a bit hard to read sometimes; and I have pretty good eyes...

Thanks

Recording Enginner,
Thanks very much for the info, sorry about the caps,I didn't realise.

Absolutely ... Neumann is worth the money (IMHO) ... but then again there are mics under that "Neumann price" that are also very much worth it (also IMHO). Like AT4050, or NT2 ... for example.

Well I went out and traded my sm57 and octava mic for a Rode-NT1,WOW!The difference is unreal.I can actually hear what my outboard gear is doing and I even got my cheap casio keyboard to sound like a warm distorted leslie. This mic is great.
Can you use it for amp miking?
Does anyone know the differance between the NT-1&2
Is it the same mic with more features or does it actually sound better?
Well it's nice to finally get a taste of a large diphram mic,I guess I'll have to start saving for a
Neumann.

WHY... did you get rid of the SM57???????

I have a pair of the TLM103's.
Best money I ever spent!
You simply can't go wrong with these mics for General Purpose mics.
