I realize this might be better asked on a computer BBS but I'm wondering if any of my DAW bros can explain Bluetooth and what it takes to utilize it.

Thanks,

Earl

Bluetooth is a low-power, low-bandwidth wireless connectivity specification.

Common uses include:

Bluetooth cellphone automatically syncing to your PC (when equipped with a Bluetooth receiver) when you walk into the room.

Bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse (Microsoft sells a set).

Bluetooth cellphone with a wireless Bluetooth headset (Jabra makes a couple, I'm not sure who else).

These are what I can think of off the top of my head, though I'm sure someone else can chime in.

Is there something in particular you were thinking you might want to use it for, or were you just curious about the tech in general?

Thanks for the reply!

I'm wanting to wireless 2 computers together, one is for surfing and the other is dedicated DAW.

After some research I'm thinking something like Libnksys is going to serve the purpose best.

What's your opinion?

Thanks again,

Earl

If you have 2 laptops both w/ a wireless networking linksis card and a wireless router. and have xp pro you can remote access either and corntrol the other computer from the one. If that makes sense.

Wireless is a little less secure than hardwired as far as the net is concerned. Still usable though.
Wireless for a Daw seems risky to me if someone is surfing on the other computer at the same time. But Ive never tried it.
If it were me I would just hardwire.

I went ahead and got a wireless setup, Linksys.

Thanks to all,

Earl
