neoprene on concrete slab?

I'm planning to build a small studio in my garage. Is it really effective to build the floor on top of neoprene pucks or something of that sort even when it will be on a slab with no living space underneath it. I will be recording drums. Does a lot of sound travel through the slab when drums and speaker cabinets are placed directly on it. I plan on having a control room isolated from one live room and I have neighbors very close by.

if you can afford the floating floor (on the rubber pucs) you should do it. It would be more of a good thing than a waste of money and effort...so yeah it does help, even when costructed on a concrete slab.

Don't forget to put down a vapor barrier under the pucks & floor.

It depends on how you attach the walls to the floor. If the walls are floating on rubber and they do not touch the flooring than you may not need to put rubber under the floor. I'm no expert so hopefull one of they guys will chime in.

IMO...

same amount would be better spent on Good Mics...

paint the concrete and/or spot place low pyle carpet...

treat the walls or ceiling to get the desired reverb time...
