Is there anyway to pan 1 track right and left without having to duplicate the track??

You can do this, but the results may not be desirable.

sure.

force your mono track to be interpreted as stereo (click the widget in console view), then put it through a delay plug-in.

make the LEFT channel 100% wet 0% dry and make the delay time 0ms.

then do the RIGHT channel to taste.
