Hey folks - I unfortunately have to do some of my recording without my iMac and apogee duet around (notebook recording without firewire).
This is nothing serious - just hobby electric guitar tracks out of a tube amp with a touch of overdrive. I always record with a Crowley & Tripp Naked Eye because I love ribbons on electric guitar and can flip it around for vocals. One stop all-in one mic solution.
So the problem is - I'll probably end up doing most of my recording from a laptop with headphones and then later on I'll get to work on my bigger iMac. Its not a technology limitation as much as a lifestyle change where I wont have my imac around when I record and I am just looking for a basic/minimal solution.
I don't even need two inputs (and I guess I dont even really need the Duet anymore either).
I just need one interface/preamp that has enough gain and is good enough to let my C&T mic shine. If I sold the Duet what could I get that is USB/minimalist and approaching the same SQ.
Doesn't even have to be a USB device if someone has a recommendation for an outboard recorder thats good which I could upload and finalize on the imac in Logic.
Thanks!
