i've just been using a laptop for a while, i looked at macs, but i've been using pc too long, and it's just the easier ad more sensible choice. i was going to build one from new egg or frys. unless there is something someone can suugest in a desktop.

i have studio monitors, a large screen, mics, presonus firestudio, and running cubase currently, but really like logic although i know it's used for mac usually.

i need quite a bit of memory and ramm so i thought custom building or adding a few thing would be the most efficient way to go about it. i'm also gettin superior 2.0 which takes up about 50gb on it own, so i need this thing to powerful.

Thank you in advance for anyones help and suggestions!

SD 2.0 doesnt use that much CPU...it mainly memory it uses...anything over 3ghz dual, 4 gig ram and 7200rpm hard drives will do great, unless you plan on using lots of soft synths in your songs..these eat cpu...try and get at least two hard drives...one for applications and one for libararies...if you can a third for songs...two screens can also be handy if you have the space..

Im on a 2.6ghz dual 3gig ram and I max it out pretty easily...i have three hard drives, 150, 250, & 500 and theyre filling up pretty quickly

btw SD2 is going for half price for november...check it out

I'm building a new box based on AMD's new Propus chip. Quad core 2.6 for $99 at the egg! Uses DDR3 1333 ram (Mushkin 2gb stick for $45). Gigabyte MA770 mobo (user's choice award) for $65 after $10 rebate.

Has PCIe slot for video. Can't go wrong.

oh yea i saw it's about 100 bucks off right now. i'm for sure picking it up!

Thanks for the heads-up! I already own EZ Drummer, so I can get the "crossgrade" package for only $100 @ Musician's Friend. That's $120 off their usual price! Yippee!

excellent...SD blows it, and just about everything else, away :)

Can the weak become heros?

Just got the superior bundle. couldn't pass it up. i'm really wrapping my brain about this new computer. i already have a decent laptop, it just can't be used for all the recording software and what not.

i'm leaning towards a mac. building a pc is the only thing i can think of, but it just seems a little bit sketchy. if anyone can suggest something for me it would be greatly appreciated.
