Need some organ sounds, man

OK, I need something rackmountish, preferably old and cheap, to take the MIDI from my old and cheap . . . let's call it a controller, but hey, 61 keys that I weighted with lead :drunk: Just need basic rock organ and electric piano sounds for blues & surf, so hit me up with recommendations. Heck, if you got something you want to unload cheap, spam me, I don't mind :)

I DON'T want a VSTi, if I did I would write one :p
 
I'll probably be flamed but I really like the organ sounds in my Casio CTK691, it's one of the reasons I chose it over other keyboards.
 
The Roland SoundCanvases don't have bad organs at all. You see them for $100 and less frequently. I have the last one, the SC-8850, which is the grandaddy SoundCanvas and it does sound better and is kinda expensive. The SC-8820 sounds about the same but there's no screen. Even the SC-55 wasn't bad, plus it has delay and a decent chorus. They easily made 20 different SoundCanvases, I keep seeing ones I never knew they made. You can use controllers with them real easy.

For surf music it would work because there's a few Farfisa types.
 
Looks pretty good, but did they do a rackmount model? Also I would need AC power or 12VDC, don't have room in my life for wall warts, but my rack does have a dedicated 12V supply . . .

Otherwise, I'm looking at some old Yamaha or E-Mu units in the sub-$100 range . . .
 
The SoundCanvases that I've seen, other than my SC-8850 and SC-8820 all have ac adapters... and pretty big obnoxious ones too. :mad:

Yamaha TX81Z's are only 8 voice I think, but they had some good cheezy type organs. They're rack mount and I'm thinking $25 - $50 max. They don't have "good" B3 type sounds though, just Farfisa types.
 
I have an Emu Vintage Keys that is loaded with a lot of good Hammond sounds and even a couple of Farfisa and Vox sounds (you need the Farfisa/Vox for surf music.

It also has a couple of Rhoads and Wurlitzer piano sounds on it (the Wurlitzers are very close to the original sound - the Rhoads are not as good as many other modules.

If you could track one down - I think you may be pleased with what you hear.
I would think a used unit would fall in the $100 range.
