Hi,
I just got fired from the band I had benn in for 3 years. So now I am recording a few c.d.'s on my own.
Has any one had any luck with CD Baby or CDStreet? When I go into their sites, it seems you need to know the name of an
artist or a c.d. title to actually find what you want to hear.
How would anyone find my stuff under their broad headings
and pages of listings? My stuff isn't right for any radio play.
Since I am now a one-man-band, I can't play all the sounds at
once, so gigs are now out. I could sit at Craft Fairs all day
and play along with my c.d.'s but that certainly doesn't sound
like much of an exciting life.
Could anyone give me a little advise and tell me what they did?
Thanks, Lolly

You could still play live shows, just get musicians to plays your songs with you. :D You could be called Lolly and the Pops

There really is no good way to get yourself noticed on big web sites like that. On MP3.COM, you can compete in auctions to get your site up to the top, but depending on your genre, winning the auctions on MP3.COM can get expensive.

If you can get your CDbaby page up to the top of the search engines, I am sure you would get some CD sales.

The bottom line is that you need to promote those CD sale pages.

Good luck.

Ha ha ha, for asking.
I was fired cause the couple that own the band say I was insulting and abusive. It had nothing to do with my playing.
I am 57 and certainly no threat, but she acted like she just didn't want me being around her 34-yr-old husband. ha ha ha,
their loss, right!
So now I need to sell my own stuff on CD Baby and it sure will
be hard to get people's attention.

I'm a solo artist/acoustic and released a full production CD. I do my shows alone (most of them) and have no problems.(although I sometimes think to myself while playing "boy this sucks without the band to back it up") No one seems to care.

My CD is available on CD Street and CD Baby. You get more of a cut through CD Street, but both offer good services.

Good Luck,
Ken
