need help choosing a mic

get something like sp b1, mxl v67, or if you have a little more money, se 2200a

I suggest reading all the threads in here. This very topic has been covered hundreds, if not thousands of times. Shockmounts isolate the mic from vibrations, basically. Google is your friend also. Youll find any answer you want in past threads here.

Shock mounts isolate the microphone from vibrations. Do you need one, probably not, but they are nice. If you are going to buy a condensor mic you will need to also have a preamp with phantom power.
 
Why don't you take a look at an Adk a-51 type v. These are warm mics with a sweet high end, not hyped like the spc1. I plan to get one since i tested it out at my friends house. They're about $130-150.
