Acoustic Blues

This is a short mic sample of mshilarious' MSH-4 tube mic. I want to add a bass and percussion to it. So help me out! Only a minute long.

EDIT: Guitar players - add a solo to my backing guitar w/bass by lbanks. Go for it. (There's a 1 bar lead-in added.)

I'm in like Flynn if you want me. Though, I can't hear drums on this. Let me know what you want if you'd like me to do something, buddy.

Great! Maybe something with lots of brush? Or maybe bongos? I'm open to anything. The odder the better. Hell, anything to hide my sloppy rhythm guitar zingy tone. :D

Hi, TIM, I agree with RAMI, it´s a very good and "short blues" tune , works "itself" , and I think too don´t need drums or bass . Are you or mshilarious playing? (sorry if I don´t understood...)

Very good piece, very well played!

Thanks Ciro. It's me playing. mshilarious made the mic. My idea during recording was to leave room in the low end for a bass, so I used a gtr that's bass shy. I WANT BASS, man! Might even rope mshil into it since he plays bass.

:D :D :D

Nice to see the "other side of timothy", ´cause I knew you as a "classical/nylon acoustic guitar man".

(and, hey, what you call "guitar bass shy" sounds great to me!!!!!!)

Congratulations one more time

CIRO

Sounds good, I have to agree about the bass & drums. A bass might fill in the lower end a little more but I don't think the song needs it. Drums might sound pretty cool though.

I like the sound you got out of the mic. Do you mind telling me what your setup was for this? Like which preamp and mic placement you used?

OK, I'll try to come up with something. I don't hear a conventional high-hat, bass drum, snare beat, though. So I'll try something more percussion-y. :)

I'm not calling dibs or anything, so I won't be insulted if somoene comes up with something before I do. I might not be able to put something up until the week end. :D

Timothy - classic blues sir. Bass and drums would be cool behind this. Looking forward to this collab.....

A little dobro would be nice as well, even if its just sliding into the chord changes. ;)

Cool tune Tim...I think it's fine on it's own, but just listened to Larry's version...nice bass line. Added another dimension, so it's really cool also.

Cool blues Timothy, I've been waiting to hear you as recorded by the tube thingo Hilarious has concocted. It sounds fabulous.
As a bass player I'd be worried about playing on a track like this for fear of stepping on the guitar - you've nicked all the good bass lines for a start. It'd have to be rudely rudimentary to allow the lines you've played to shine through - maybe a standup bass or a fretless doing a few slides!
But now I've hear lbanks' work I'm less convinced of my position - what a vile vascillating vamp I am - but then again...
Rami should be able to do a sandshoe shuffle with brushes to illuminate the guitar though.
I look farward to hearing the results.

This is great stuff.... and I definately prefer the version w/ the Bass that was added....great bass tone, nice and low, so it dosn't step on the Guitar... Good Job Bro!!

One thing to keep in mind too regarding the guitar tone.... I wound not go crazy trying to get 'the perfect' full bodied tone, I think it's good the way it is right now... Remember, alot of that style blues was recorded and played way back with no technology and usually on a crappy guitar.... It was the heart and soul of the player that was more important than the actual 'neatness' of the tone/playing. FWIW

I think this is some really cool shit right here....

Congas or something of the like would really be cool, even though it dosn't traditionally "make sence"... Although I could hear some snare w/ brushes behind it if you wanna keep it more traditional.....

Sounds great Tim, I allways enjoy to listen to what you shell out.

Nice playing and noodeling.

Its gonna be cool to hear what Rami adds to this.

If the bass is still up for grabs I might give it a go, I`m gonna be at band rehearsals for the next few days but, I`ll se if I cant lay down a track.

anyways great work tim.

If anyone’s interested in doing a guitar part to this I’ve posted the backing guitar and lbanks’ bass line in the original post. Have at it.

CIRO – thanks buddy.

solo.guitar - the MSH4 was about 10 inches out from the neck/body joint, on axis, Great River pre. Thanks for the listen.

Rami – looking forward to hearing it!

Anfontan – Dobro yeah… so add one.

Lbanks – you ARE the man. Great bass sound!

Dogman and rayc – appreciate the comments

Perdicament – Thanks! Yeah, this is Roots raw guitar all the way.

Nakatira – Thanks Nak. Yeah, do add a bass part. Good to hear different versions.

Tim

Cool sounding track. :)

Don't know why you call the rhythm zingy. It sounds good.
