I found two condenser microphones which i really like. I have done a lot of research and now need opinions.
The BEHRINGER C-3 or the AUDIO-TECHNICA AT2020?
Both are XLR mics so please give me an opinion over which one is overall better.

I'm surprised they can do a multi pattern for 50 bucks.
But if it doesn't totally blow, and you can believe the chart.. you'd be getting three different tones shapes in one mic.
Could make for a decent starter tool kit.

Charts and reviews are great - but you should demo them yourself to make sure they capture the sound you're looking for!

What kind of stuff are you recording? If you don't absolutely need the versatility in switchable polar patterns, I'd say the AT2020. The behringer looks alright, but my gut is telling me not to buy a dual diaphragm mic for 50 bucks. thats a lot of material. Who knows tho, man, sometimes you get lucky and you can get a nicely put together microphone.

I'd say to base it on the types of things you are going to be recording. If you think you absolutely need to have the options of going bi or omni directional (which would be nice if it's your only mic) then bite the bullet and go for the c3... if not you'll be happy with the 2020

Audio Technica is always a good bet on a budget...and even up into the mid-price range

you should also consider the Audio Technica PRO 37...great mic, not too spendy. Or perhaps the ATM450 if you're recording drums

sorry, I thought you were looking for an SDC. I'd suggest the AT3035 as a great introductory condenser microphone, you can find them all the time on eBay for good prices.

The AT2020 has received some pretty good reviews since they released it. On a budget it would be a good choice. I wouldn't buy Behringer mics personally. Also consider the Rode NT1A as another possible option that will do a very good job on lots of sources-not just vocals.

My sentiments there are with ya –some caution, review? ..at the minimum.
How the heck can they get from raw material to there? All the people along the way get paid? You wouldn't think 50$ would cover the boat ride.

The Behringer C series mics are horrible. Studio Projects and Audio Tchnica make far better budget mics.
