Heya guys,
First off, let me thank you in advance for reading his post and perhaps offering me some advice.
A few friends and I want to create a bare-bones audio production set up. Basically, we want to create tracks to rhyme to. We figured that if we use our computers with this setup, it could save us a lot of money, but we realize that everything involved in this process cannot be done on a computer (well maybe it can, but it'd probably give us a lot of headaches). We don't have much experience with druming, so it was recommended to me that a drum machine would be a suitable alternative. I've reviewed some of the more prominent drum machines sold online, and it looks to me that a 300 or 400 dollar budget would be fine.
However, I'm unsure if more equipment is needed. Ultimately, we want to make the beat tracks separately, then import them onto the computer. We'd do the same with the vocals, they'd be recorded separately and then fused with the track through a program, maybe something like Acid or Cakewalk.
Would I need more equipment like a sequencer or a sampler? I'm unfamiliar with the interplay of these tools, and figured I'd better get some knowledge and advice before I start spending money.
Thanks again.
