Hey I'm getting the motif 7 (synth) keyboard tomorrow and I need a keyboard buddy, someone who can tutor me and show me the tricks of the trade. I've downloaded the manuals and have been reading them but if I could get someone who is experienced to IM me back and forth that would be great! I'm not a slow learner I want to utilize as much of the keyboard as possible! This is a big upgrade for me. My yamaha DJX just died on me (a good 7 years she lasted, sniff sniff). I’m looking forward to someone stepping up to the plate and sharing their wealth of knowledge with me.

is motif = "rectum" ???
Tahnks for reply :) :) :) :) !!!

By the way congrads on the new board i thought of getting one but i saw the rack version and put it on my wish list :)

I'm planning on getting the Motif Video. It is on special for 19.95 it goes for around $30. :)

I have a motif and have it pretty much dowpacked. You can holla at me if u need any tips. I have also sold a few tracks from it as well.

the motif just seem so advanced!

Take in mind,

The reason I got the motif is because my last keyboard of 7 years just died on me RIP to the yamaha DJX and that is pretty much as low end as you can go so I pretty much had that mastered. It's like I've gone from a tricycle to a B52!

Couple things I'd like to know, is there a way to tweak the motif to allow me to use the el-cheap-o radio shack foot pedal. It's an FC5 style pedal but for some stupid reason when I plug it into the sustain jack it operated in reverse....it sustains the notes when the pedal isn't pressed and stops the sustainment when I press down on the pedal (SUGGESTIONS?)

Also while I'm focusing on the back panel what in the world is a Breath, Breath Controller?

PS: 70s I sent you an email hit me back!

Hi there,

I own the Motif-ES7 (about 4 months now) and can tell you that you have stepped into a fantastic creative world with your choice - Mo7. I don't know about your foot pedal problem, but I believe that I have the same model (FC5) that I had used with my QY700 music sequencer before I got my ES7, and it works fine with my 'board.

The 'Breath Controller' that you questioned about has to do (I believe) with a hardware piece that you can get for greater expressiveness of your wind instrument voices. It fits around your head, and incorporates a 'blow' piece which allows you to blow into it as you would if you were playing the actual instrument.

The Motif user manual was a little hard for me to digest, and I found the tutorial DVD's to be of great aid. The "Get Motifated/volume 1" DVD would help you considerably, and answer a great many of your questions. It also covers, very well, the issue regarding the 'Breath Controller'. I have three DVD's in my stable now, with only one - 'The Complete Guide To The Motif ES' - being dedicated to my particular model. But they all have information that would be helpful to owners of either remarkable models.

Someone much more knowledgable may step up to the plate and offer a greater explanation of things. I am still a newbie, of sorts, but wanted to try and help because of all the help that others have given to me.

Congrats....and have BIG FUN.
