My Top 5 Emcees*****

1. KRS-1 (one of the last men standin' that still represent Hip-Hop in all 4 elements)
2. Supernatural (kid can freestyle out of fuckin' contorl)
3. 2Pac (love him or hate him, he changed the way we look at rap music 4ever!)
4. Rakim (HE is the king of New York, Jay-Z mustv'e forgot)
5. Nas (now tell me yall don't feel him.....)

tupac, definitely my favorite
biggie -peep out his references
nas --new and old
rakim- originator of much of rap
eminem-- wow
krs one-- still more intelligent than most

don't like jay-z not only are his beats sampled but so are his lyrics.
none of the new schoolers but eminem
no nelly, no ja rule, no fagulous. no snoop, etc

although jadakiss has a nice tape I wouldn't put someone up for just a few songs.

-KRS-1 (Gotta respect his all around abilities)
-Chuck D [PE] (Positive and in mainstream, NOT CROSSOVER)
-NAS (a hell of a lot better than Jay-z: Jay-z SOLD OUT he rap for the bottom line and is trying to dis NAS; what happen to respecting the game and those that pave the way: JAY-Z Sell ou)
-Rakim
-Big Daddy Kane (change rapping with the use of similes and metaphors)

I'm gonna have to say...

#5 Tupac (Power of words personified!)

#4 Biggie (Big never put out a whack Joint! Every single song he ever made was Hot!!)

#3 Black Thought(C'mon son, all you got to do is listen to whatever he spits at any given time and you will know!!!)

#2 Rakim(He singlehandedly let us know what it means to not only rap but be a Lyricist!!!!)

#1 KRS-ONE( Still in tha game, representin all elements of Hip-Hop, Allways been for the positive. He never lied about what he was...The Teacher...and lives up to it. On top of that can't no new school cat hold a candle to him live. It just wont happen!!!!!)

Honorable Mention...
EMINEM(only one albium though son...C'mon!)
Pharoe Monch(One word...BANNANAS!!)

WILL SMITH - Hate him or not he broke the bank with a clean album showing that it could be done we just choose not to

SCARFACE- NUFF said

BIGGIE- because of his ability to talk about anything including hisself and still make it sound nice

RAKIM- because what he did at the time was ahead of his time

KRS ONE- Never much liked him but you have to respect him for he is one of the greats

************************************
NOT 2PAC because he had a gift and he f_cked it off. he had enough power to help unite people on a real level and pissed it away for what?..........some jewels .....moet .......and some media hyped beef. He got played like a piano. His earlier stuff was nice but one fuck up wipes away a thounsand that a boys.

"Hello, It's me. It's me calling out, I can't see you.
Hello, It's me crying out, crying out, are you there?!
Hello, It's me. It's me. I want to touch you.
It's me throwing stones from the stars on your mixed up world.
....
Been circling 'round for twenty years,
And in that time I've seen all the fires and all the liars.
Been calling home for twenty years,
And in that time I've heard the screams rebound to me,
While you were making history.
I could see the fire!"

- Richard Ashcroft (The Verve)

"And feel the juice run as she flies.
Run my wings under her sighs.
As the flames of eternity rise.
To lick us with the first born lash of dawn.
Oh really my dear, I can't see what we fear.
Standing here with ourselves in between us.
And at the door, we can't say more, than just another day.
And without a sound, I turn around, and walk away."

-Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil)

"We can walk our road together,
If our goals are all the same.
We can run alone and free,
If we pursue a different aim.
Let the love of truth be lighted.
Let the truth of love shine clear.
Sensibility
Armed with sense and liberty
With heart and mind united
In a single
Perfect
Sphere."

- Neil Peart (Rush)

"Terror reigns, drenchin',
Quenchin' the thirst of the power dons
That five sided fist-a-gon!
The rotten sore on the face of mother earth gets bigger
The trigger’s cold, empty your purse!
...
Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes, not need,
Just feed the war cannibal animal!
I walk the corner to the rubble that used to be a library
Line up to the mind cemetery!
What we don't know keeps the contracts alive an movin'
They don't gotta burn the books they just remove 'em!
While arms warehouses fill as quick as the cells
Rally round the family, pockets full of shells!

-Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against The Machine)

" You and me, what does that mean?
Always, what does that mean?
Forever, what does that mean?
It means we'll manage
I'll master your language
And in the meantime I'll create my own."

-Tricky
