...
hi all,,

watchin island at the bbc the other nite...

not a fan of winehouse:P but it's nice to see gear set up and what not right?

anyway,,,spotted the drum overheads and was convinced that they were ivory md421s.....

but,,,a closer look on iplayer says they're not...

the close up shot from the hi hat side of the kit made me think it look a bit like a cream/white/silver akg414,,
which would make more sense than a 421,

vintage silver ones maybe??idk

anyway, your thoughts please!

hmmm,,i thought it was too long to be the cube..

maybe you're right tho,,,so hard to tell from the pic.

I think you are a fan of Amy Winehouse...otherwise you wouldnt have included her picture...I think you wanna marry her and have like 100 babies:eek:

I dont blame you...she kinda looks like Christy Hynde from the Pretenders and I liked her in the 80s

I think it is weird too...but I saw video of her using a cheap Se2200 for vocals and they seem to be getting what they want using fairly cheap stuff...I wonder if she clips coupons too.

AKG 414 LTD or early 414 with the brass capsule. Expensive for overheads, but probably an amazing sound. Maybe a 414 EB, for which overheads is the only place it belongs.

So...you're not going to deny being in love with Amy Crackhouse?

haha,,i'll publicly deny it right now....in fact, she's a pet hate of mine.

her and that doherty twat......

Dont be dissin' Brenda Walsh dude...I totally wore it out spanking to that girl.

wake up, dude....... being ignored is not winning. definitely a cube

Nah, I'm with Raw-Tracks - AKG C414, probably EB. Have a look at the second Winehouse picture and you can see it's got the black grill on one side and the silver one on the other side like the 414's with the polarity switches on it and it's not got that blocky body like the MXL's

It's settled as far as I'm concerned. It's a c414-EB. No question in my mind. Look at the mic clip, that is clearly an AKG 414 clip. The back side grill of the mic (facing up) is black. Does the MXL Cube have a black grill on back? Not according to the picture Harvey posted. Also, the cube is much thicker in the body, basically square (or to be more correct, a, uhhm, cube). The 414's are thinner.

In a way it is also a confirmation that the MXL Cube may be a pretty good overhead mic...if Harvey says its good...Ill bet its good.

I don't think the mic in the 2nd picture is the same mic as in the 1st picture. The mic in the 2nd picture is probably a 414. Not that sure about the mic in the 1st picture. We use the MXL Cube in exactly the same position on our drums. Plus, the first pictured mic looks way to fat to be a 414.
