hey there,
let me preface this by saying that i'm not looking to set up a "home studio" but to set up an alternative to my 8-track recording. so, yes, i'm a newbie!
anyway, i've been running my keyboard (and microphone) directly into the back of my computer and recording directly through my sound card into N-track. it's been going well thus far just to throw down ideas, etc. however, this JUST stopped working today for some reason. the actual inputs seem to be working fine for other applications, but for some reason, N-track just isn't getting the signal (and it used to!). so, i've hit a rut. can anyone suggest what may be wrong?

PS: as i mentioned, i'm not looking to build a home studio, but i'm assuming i'd have a lot less problems with an interface like the Mbox or something. can someone suggest maybe a cheaper alternative for me? thanks again!
