then again, if it's going to turn me into a close-minded, arrogant ass like EDAN, I guess I don't wish it.

Lots of interesting bits about "Yesterday" on wikipedia:

So apparently Sir Paul is perfectly capable of reading and writing a chart, and also recognizing the chords he was playing, even though he was detuned a step.

Also interesting is this:

The string quartet on "Yesterday" was a revolution in pop music. It was the real thing, biting bow sounds, counterpoint, etc., not the orchestral string wash common up until that point.

They are both knights; let them settle it with a joust :o

Your getting you info from, wikipedia, a site that says..

"The song "Yesterday" by Paul McCartney was originally recorded by The Beatles for their album Help! in 1965. According to the Guinness Book of Records, "Yesterday" has the most cover versions of any song ever written, while BMI asserts that it was performed over seven million.

A modern pop hit song is played two three four five million times a YEAR, "Yesterday" has probably been played a hundred million times! So this source is not exactly a good one.

According the Bob Spitzer book Paul worked side by side with George Martin in composing the string score. I did a google and found different accounts, but I'm pretty sure I remember Paul saying they did it together on Larry King. The string arrangement isn't anything that orginal to begin with, it works off of Pauls melody and often times just and in the verses it just basically mirrors Pauls guitar parts. Because of that and from what I've read and heard I'm more inclined to believe it was a joint effort. I know for a fact on Larry King Paul did say he can't read music, that one I remember well. I'm sure he knows the chords, but I heard the man himself say he can't read.

As a side note, My brother met Paul one time and said he was as down to earth and nice as can be, just a normal guy.

For some reason this thread, which I found so entertaining yesterday is striking me as infintile and annoying.

I'm a little tired though, I attribute it to that.

I'm gonna chill out for an hour then go get about 10 hours sleep so I don't fall out of love with this thread.

The mixing part is easy. Figuring out what sounds to record is the bitch. If you get good sounds and a good arangement, the mix just falls together.

Me too. I got that way being an audio professional. Music theory helped.

You might think you make better recordings, but I doubt you have what it takes to do this for real. You don't seem to have the temprament, open minded-ness, or background.

I do it every day for real. I was talking about you. If you want to publicly deny the fact, because your not man enough to admit it, that although your recordings aren't bad they are not nearly as professional sounding as mine then do so, but we both know the truth.

I've already schooled the know-it-alls and posted a production better (you might even say, much better) than theirs and I already schooled you and others on copyright, publishing and songwriter royalties. I'd say my baloney is more like Prime rib. The only baloney is coming from people like you who thought you had to trascribe music to copyright it and get paid! lol.
