mysterious digital fuzz! help

i've got some crazy digital fuzz. it comes in and out during recording. and it is on the actual track.
i'm using a profire 2626 and m powered pro tools. i have a power conditioner. if anybody has some thoughts that would be awesome. 'cause i'm currently in the middle of a project, but can't move forward due to this.

that is your sound card screwing up for some reason.. try raising the buffer, thereby raising the latency just a tad..

also, if you have an onboard soundcard, go to the control panel and disable it.. i always find i get more stability out of external hardware, when competing internal hardware is out of the picture..

buts its for sure a fixable issue..

can you list your computer specs? what is your CPU/RAM usage when that sound happens? does the computer run sluggish at all when that happens? like, jumpy mouse or stuck screen?
