Love it. This has always been one of my fave Stones songs. I think you did a good job overall, but it's a little too slow, and I think the original arrangement has a little more variety. Not much, but a little. Anyway, it's a cool choice to cover. The vocals sound really good.

Thanks Greg, I did have the tempo a little faster originally, but had a real hard time singing it....I think as far as the arrangement, It's almost like a free form thing the way Jagger does it...Im gonna try it again and see if I can get a little more variety into the delivery( I assume you were talking about the vocal's? )...the drums also are pretty much straight all the way thru with no fills....
Thanks for checking it out!

Nah I mean the music. I think the original has a more 1-4-1-5 thing going on, but I could be wrong. Haven't heard it in a while.

I don't think you can take a song like Shattered and roll back the tempo and tame the overall dynamics of the song. If anything, it would be better to move in the other direction.

Cool song and effort though.

I normally hate covers, but you did a fine job of not completely running the song. Good job :D

really cool queepy, i always loved this song, please don't take it wrong but i think a remake of this song should be slightly faster and more powerful, but yours was still great and you had fun doing it so whatever then! (not that i could do any better)i think you did a really great job anyways, just would've prefered it differently myself

Hey Mick Doobie...your probably right...I guess it just came out that way for me....although to my ears it dosent seem to much slower...I think I'm gonna try the lead vox again with a little more aggression...Thanks for listening!

Thanks....I think:p...appreciate the listen!

Thanks! I agree about the more powerful thing you stated...this one is all Mick on the original...I think I just need to get "into the zone" a little more and try those vox again...maybe I can speed it up a little as well after the fact by changing the bpm in my daw?

It's a cool take on a cool song. It's hard to please people that love the original version of this type of song. I would also have to listen to it a few times before deciding if I like the slower tempo, but I can see what others are saying about the tempo. Though, I can also see what you did. You tried to make it "slimier" by slowing it down, and it works in that sense.

Thanks Rami, it did seem to flow a little easier for me at the tempo it's at...I can definitely appreciate the difference from the original...this is one of my fav stones tunes as I really like the vibe/attitude of Jaggers vocals...almost kinda punk....

Love it Queep!
Recording sounds great, everything's sitting right to me. What's that swirly effect you have on the guitars? Really like it. I think vocally you did a great job and the voice has a kind of natural roominess to it and sounds very....Stones. Always love your stuff.;)

Correction on my part, of course you can do whatever you want, that's part of the fun, eh? I do think this song lends itself better to quickening the pace and a looser delivery of instrumentation and vocal, rather than slower and tighter. Although I did just listen again, I think it's great on it's own when not compared to the original.

Some Girls had the disco thing of the era with Miss You, Shattered was an effort by the boys to also do the punk thing of the day. We used to do this song, and on some nights the tempo was balls to the wall, which made it a bitch to keep up with on vocal. With a more punk delivery it becomes more of a stu stu stutter, with less enunciation. If you do try quickening the pace, keeping that in mind might help.

That said, i'd be proud of your version if it was mine. It's done well as a stand alone.

Cheers

Sounds good. Interesting take on the guitars. Flange? Chorus? It's different which to me if your going to do a cover then make it your own. It stands up there with the original. Good recording. :)

Thanks Joey...there are 3 different guitar tracks...1 is a telecaster 1 is a firebird, and the third is a acoustic(variax)...I used a phaser effect for the tele...tried to play little variations of the main riff on each track, going for the Richards-Wood weaving guitar thing they got going on ...Thanks for the good word man...appreciate it!!

Hey Mick, thanks for the kind words...if I started this one all over again, I probably would try and play it a little faster..and rock it up a bit.I dig some live versions I've heard from the Stones on this tune...and usually try to get that vibe on my songs..trying to get my real band to do this one live as well(I don't have to sing it :D)....it's gonna be fun to try!

Thanks Dave..I used a phaser effect from my podxtl....to my ears , the effect on the original sounds like one of those old Elctro-Harmonix Small Stone phasers...didn't really come out the way I hoped for, but I kinda dig the sound so it's cool I guess....Thanks for listening!!

it sounds really good! My only opinion is that you and your friends need to get really high and do extra tracks of backup vocals...more party atmosphere!

Ha! That would work , except its all me doing the vocals, guitar, and bass...drums are loops I sliced and diced ....so I guess I would just have to party a bit myself and laydown some more shadoobies! :D...Thanks for checking it out!

I think this sounds great queep!

Not a big stones fan, but I always really like this tune. Haven't heard it in a while, but I'm thinking your version really does do it justice. I like the tempo as is personally. Vocals are well done and the roomy sound is great for this piece. Guitars work really well. I have no issues with this one although I strongly recommend revisiting it after a doobie just to see if it gives you any inspiration to add any additional oddball vocalizations. Nice work.
