Hi Alex. Ok I had to give this one a second listen 'cause I've listened to the rest of your stuff and it's very good. The vocal on this one knocked me out. Nice sound. I didn't get the point of the long intro, but I wasn't turned off by it. You wanna explain that middle part with all the voices? Nice drums. I'm jealous!

I really enjoyed the way you put this together, the drum parts were quite original and marvelous although I was bothered a little with the overtone on that bass drum in beginning but it went away. the stick on the snare was really good, it stood out a little but eased back in rank, nice fills. I loved the chordal movements. The vocal octave jump was unique, maybe a harmony in just that spot would lend support and more dimension . Guitar smooth. Really nice story in word and song.

Very impressive!
I liked the chaos in the middle! The drum intro was a little long, though IMO.The drums sounded real, were they?
Nice work!

not much to say...

but I think that the mix, if I am allowed to say so, is done rather well. Don't want to sound redundant but the frums especially. I am not much of an engineer but think that you have a fairly keen since of sound engineering?! I do agree that the lyrics were rather startling at first, but concept and all, the recording is good.

Alex,
Pure ear- candy for me! I'm on my 4th replay presently.(It will be 8th-9th by the time I finish this post as I type like a slug)
Love the percussion. The portamento approach from C - Bb grabbed me immediately and knew I was in for an aesthetic listen. Smooth dove-tailing in and out of the interlude, which in itself was astoundingly programmatic. I had a pair of good phones on, shut my eyes, and let it take me to a place where I‘ve only been previously in an altered state. ( No hallucinogens for the past 25 years, thank you. ) Awesome animated visions danced through my head during this section, which to me was not chaotic in the least, but quite stimulating and emotionally gratifying with good compositional form. You should try your hand at some film scoring.
I won’t delve into any technical aspects of recording as there are people in this forum that are far better equipped than I in that arena. All I know is that it enhanced and brought your work to life.
Music has 4 fundamental elements: melody, harmony, rhythm and emotion. You blended all 4 in phineus with creative aplomb. Nicely done!

Peace,
flat-9

mix was pretty much in the pocket. Unfortunately my least fav part was the vocals...both the recorded sound and the vocal tone. the octave jump would work, imo if it was verbed differently, or something to distinquish it. The music was great... especially the pno chaos. That was great.

I didn't really get much of a rodent connection, but don't mind me.
