I agree, mics should be 'levelled up' but also the SM57 should have a pop shield on it, not really a vocal mic!
I found this out recntly comparing one to a really cheap Hitachi dynamic WITH a built in shield, the 57 was distinctly the worse for plosives.
Debs does not have a particularly 'poppy' voice (nice in fact!) but even so you can hear the impact a couple of times.
BTW, 'de-essers' are ten a penny, never heard of a DE-POPPER? Bloody fast compressor?
