Hi all,

I've been told before that I should work on how my vocs 'feel'/swag when i rap. It kinda sounds like I'm just talking...I've been improving and I can tell that I'm getting better but there are still times when my vocals lack the 'feel' and seem emotionless.

I've been experimenting with the levels and distance from the microphone a lot, I'm not sure if it helps. (i'm not sure if that's the problem)

Any suggestions? Maybe I achieve that thru mixing?

Also, do I record twice? Meaning record over my vocs again? Having technically 2 of the same tracks playing at the same time.

Thank you,

Mes

If someone has given you the feedback that you need to give the tracks more "feel", then it's likely a performance issue and not a technical one. They're trying to get you to put more life into the performance, not change the mix.

My $0.02

If you'd like feedback from the forum on the mix or the performance, post some tracks in the mp3 clinic section of the forum...

I agree. Going by your description of what people are telling you, I'd say it has to do way more with "how" you're singing and expressing yourself, rather than any recording technique.

Actually, when someone tells you that you lack feel, press them for exactly what they mean from their own mouth. "Feel" means different things to different people and is such a vague term. To many it means nothing at all.
