My plans to build a midi guitar

We've finished the second pickup now. That's two down, ten to go.

so thats a midi pickup that mounts under the regular pickups combined with an effects processor? That is pretty bad ass. Not at all what I was expecting. That dude was really groovin on his tunes man - like serious :D

yeah except it's far more than an effects processor .... your git can sound just like an organ or actually ANY keyboard sound. You can also have Variax type capabilities where you can use alternate tunings without actually re-tuning or you can have the same guitar sound like a strat .... flip a switch and have it sound like a paul ....... it's pretty badass for sure and they've got the prices down on it these days.
I may have to get beezes from him when he gets bored with it.
:laughings:

I need to win a music store shopping spree - or like a $50,000 gift card to musicians friend.

The Grateful Dead was using that stuff 20 years ago. Jerry ran a GK-whatever through a Roland U-20 rack synth module, playing a lot of sax/trumpet/flute tones. I don't know what Phil was using but he used to do all these weird bells and chimes during Space. Weir was playing a Casio MIDI guitar in the first half of the 90's.

Now they have dropped all that stuff but John Kadlecik has been using a GK-3 and an unknown synth module on the latest Furthur tour for some tunes.

If you just wanna mess around with monosynth tones try a Sonuus G2M guitar-to-MIDI converter. $100US just plug in your guitar and your synth and go. No pickups to dick around with. Tracks best above the 12th fret and only plays one note at a time, but I can play my Voyager with a guitar! Latency is a little weird, hopefully the next generation will be able to consistently play with less than 10ms latency.

oh you bastard .... .... I wanted one of those!

Seriously ... a friend in B.R. had an earlier version and it was amazing. I'm sure this one is better so you're gonna probably disappear for a few weeks when you get it! :D
I can't fucking wait. The things I want to do are much more synth oriented, but I just don't have the discipline to learn the keys properly.
