My piano's sync is off. What do I need?

I have searched and searched, and now I will ask.
I have a Kurzweil mark 12, and when I record from my piano straight to my computer, I have noticed that when I line up my piano track to my beats that I have created in Fruityloops, my piano is not on sync. I then checked to see if the metronome was just off, and it was. I would play fruityloops metronome and my pianos metronome at the same time, and after about 10 seconds you could start to hear a slight delay from my piano. I know that it is the piano, because I have lined up my beats and the same piano track on K2600xs, and everything was perfect. It was a recording studio, so I don't know what they might of had to keep everything in sync. I didn't know if I should get a SMPTE Time Code synchronization thingy so everything could be in sync, or if that isn't even the problem. Thanks.

I don't know if I'll be much help here, but since no one else has answered I'll try. I don't use Fruityloops and I don't have a Kurzweil.

I don't think the problem is your piano per se. It sounds like the two aren't synced at all and the piano just is a little slower.

I can't give you precise information on how to accomplish this, but it should be possible using MIDI, assuming both devices can either respond to or send MIDI clock signals. If you know how to read it, there is a chart in the back of the manual that will show what messages each will send and respond to. Essentially, you need to configure it so that one unit is sending MIDI clock and the other is set to receive it, usually that means finding a parameter like "sync" or "MIDI Clock" in a utility menu or the global or MIDI menus. It varies with different units. It will probably work best with Fruity sending and the Mark 12 receiving, but you can try it both ways.

I know that's kind of vague, but it's the best I can do! Hopefully, someone who has more specific knowledge will come along.

Your right about the piano just being slower. Because of the piano being that way, I am wondering if there is something that I could just hook up to the piano to make it the "correct speed." All I really want to record is audio. When I tried hooking everything up through fruitloops, I couldn't get anything going through midi, which isn't a problem, but if that would fix the slower speed of the piano, it would be nice. I'm thinking I need a curtain driver or sound card to make it work though. I'll keep trying stuff. Thanks for your help.

You need to follow my suggestions. I tried checking online for a manual for your piano, but Kurzweil doesn't have it posted. Is this piano similar to the Mark 10? If so, it can either send MIDI clock or receive it. Check your manual. My guess is that Fruity is probably going to be happier as the master. What version of Fruityloops do you have. I have only used the original and I've never spent a lot of time with it so I don't know it well at all. I can try to find synchronization info for you, but my general directions are correct. You need both devices communicating via MIDI and one of them has to be the master and the other the slave. It's not hard to accomplish.

I'm assuming you have a MIDI interface on your computer and that it's connected and installed properly? What interface are you using? Synching the Mark 12 to it should simply be a matter of connecting the MIDI Out from the computer to the MIDI In on the piano and setting the piano up as a slave. Bear in mind that most programs don't send MIDI clock unless they're running so anything that relies on MIDI clock in your Mark 12 won't work if Fruityloops is stopped. IOW, you won't be able to play a sequence from the piano while Fruity is stopped.

I have tried everything you said, but I don't think think I have MIDI interface, could though. I just bought a new computer not really worrying about the sound card till now. It does have the joystick port to plug the midi in, but I don't know if that is what talking about.

I have a Kurzweil mark 12, and I have also searched everywhere for a manual because I lost mine sometime ago. I have hooked up all the chords correctly to my computer and back to the piano, but I can't get it work. My other guess is that maybe the chord is bad. It is about 5 years old. When I get back from work I will try again though to get everything running again.

Success.

I went into my bios at start up and found out that my midi interface was not turned on. Once I did that, fruityloops worked. I was able to play from my piano to fruityloops. The only thing now that I have to figure out is how to make adobe audition my master and my piano my slave when I record the audio. Thanks for your help.
