anybody got anything they wanna sell?

send me a list of anything and i'll let u know what i can do to relieve your problems.

LOL,

A thread about gear-aholics attracts gear-aholics trying to buy gear from other gear-aholics. :D

Why don't we all just swap gear so nobody will have to spend any money.

Taylor

No MrZekeMan, no good, I think the best thing to do here is send me your gear!!!!!!!!!:D Or maybe we should create a Fellowship of the Gear, an ideal community were we could all swap gear with each other, were there is no greed, no envy, just healthy, friendly gear lending and swapping......

Okay, here's another idea I had,...

to have a musician's rental practice studio with multiple rooms, each outfitted with a modest recording setup. Don't laugh, it could happen, and I don't think that's such a bad idea!

Other idea: to be a Tascam museum, much like the Smithsonian! I'm halfway there on this one!;)

Being a gearaholic sounds shamelessly self indulgent, and in a way it is, but I have the best of intentions, even if I can never put some of these ideas into action. Some of these business oriented ideas take a lot of capital to put into action, much more than I actually have.

Realistically, I've been out of circulation for a long time, but I could see gearing up to become a small-project or mobile-recording type of recording business. I have enough gear to do this, and several other things similar to this.

Problem is, that musicians who are just starting out at the grass roots level typically have no money! The economic model doesn't work. I've been there/done that, and found out the hard way.

Which brings me back to basics. I love music, and I get gear to make music and have fun. Plain & simple.

Really. You guys have waaaaaayyyyy too much money.

Fortunately for me (and for my family, too) my gear-holism is only in my mind, where I imagine I can buy loads and loads of gear (which of course I can't).

I wish I had some more money for gear :( ;) :)

Yeah, probably share with some third-world countries, like Mexico, maybe? I would be glad to share that stuff with the poor ones (me and some friends).

Please state that those are donations so I don't have to pay taxes for them.

 :D :D :D :D

My name is Chris and I'm a gearaholic too!

Went from collecting coins as a kid (made $), then collecting 60's
cars (sold them made less $), and then audio gear (about "even")
Is there a trend developing? Not in the right direction anyway as
far as money, however, way more FUN than the first two!

The "hard stuff" for me are microphones and mic pre's BTW.
My method of control now is to allow myself only ONE microphone
or mic pre for each business transaction I close (self-employed).
And I used to wonder how the heck those famous guitarists would have a bezillion guitars... (wonder no more)

My secondary affliction seems to be Tascam multi-tracks,
having a 244 cassette, 40-4 reel to reel, and a 564 mindisc-
all 4 tracks. Dave showed remarkable restraint when the 40-4
was offered for $100(!) Not to worry, however, as it must be my
fate to learn how to razor blade edit, demagnetize, and record
things backwards. (the fact these units sound great helps too)

Chris

P.S. You know you're a gearaholic when all you can imagine with
empty spots in your garage is ... more gear!

Remember there is no cure, only temporary relief!

What chess didn't tell'ya,...

was at the time he offered the 40-4 to me for $100, a great deal indeed, I was already spent-out on some other choice pieces of gear! That, and I'm basically full-up on reel-to-reels!

"Showing good control" may not be entirely accurate!

Broke and spent-out for the time being is more accurate!;)

Zeke, alas no Hemi's!
My last 60's car was a Chevy Malibu '65 SS convertible with the 283 V-8.
(still miss it!)

Dave, the 40-4 is now regarded by yours truly as being analogus to the
car donated to the college auto shop. Better to learn on it than an
expensive Studer! (Lusting for a J37 4 track in the future BTW)

Chris

Here I am Dave!!! (breathing hard after running down the path) Whew...excitement at last. I can see I'm gonna have to kick Bdgr's ass and start my hypnotherapy sessions. (You’re all getting sleepy and will send your gear to ME when you awake)

I'm worried about that extra bedroom that's so full of stuff I'll never use, not to mention the room behind the garage that's so full of stuff...then there's what used to be the 'living' room, which now looks more like a recording studio…and then there’s Saturday and Sunday when I get up at 6 AM to hit the flea market to look for more…then there’s that tent sale coming this Thursday…dinged, demo’s, discontinued items…pray for me…please…sob…

Thanx Monty, I knew you wouldn't let me down!

Monty, it's okay,... we understand, and we feel your 'pain'!

Now, as for me, I was online just this morning, poised to buy this mint Tascam PE-40. I was watching it like a hawk, timing it down on my watch, ready to place my bid. It was being bid up in the last few minutes, but I was gonna outbid them all!

Down to the last 3 minutes, and I decided to open my email screen, and pop open an HRcom page or two, when WHAM, all of the sudden, my computer started spawning a zillion Internet Explorer windows, literally out of control! It made it impossible to place my bid!

Yikes, a piece like that doesn't come along every day, and I've been wanting one for who knows how long, and then THIS! Well, this little computer mishap prevented me from placing that bid, so now I have to go back to scouring Ebay for this rare piece again!

It did save me about $130 bucks though, 'til next time anyway.;)

Muahahahaha Guitar Center gave me a credit card, so Now I have added an Ibanez Bass, and a pair of Studiophile SP-5B's

Oh yea,

One last thing. Don't ever purchase ANY gear with a credit card.

;) :D
