Farce of Nature
I just got my '47 Martin back from the shop. They inspected it, corrected the action by lowering the bridge and nut and put on some light guage strings. It plays, feels, and looks great.. The shop owner said it's worth around $2,700.

Thanks to Treeline and Light for all your advice!

Your welcome. I am glad you like the guitar, and that you took the guitar to a profesional. Have fun, remember to play it, and make absolutly certain to keep it humidified.

000? That's great. Has it always been strung up to pitch? If not, keep an eye on the bridge for a few years for any signs of it lifting, Martin's hide glues can get brittle and let go every 50 years or so and you'd want to reglue it before it pulls up. Chances are it won't, just something to look out for.

I just mention it cause my '52 00-18 did it.

Glad it's working for you. I have a '57 000-18. When you look accross the face it's as flat as a pool table.:D God, I love it.

Thanks for the tip philboyd! I will definately keep an eye on that. Grandpa put very heavy strings on it and it was not up to pitch when I got it.
