My first song up for review

Was hoping someone would review the song "41 Light Years From Earth". Particularly the demo "unmastered" version. This mix does have any post mixdown work, so it's my own mixing job. I'd like to hear any comments production or otherwise. The song was uploaded at 224kbps.

Over all good mix. The only thing I could say is bring the snare up and more up front in the mix. It seems a bit lost. Maybe the other drums also (not sure about that part). The cymbals and hat sound ok...just the drums. Guitar sound is cool (very thick). Good work!

Guitars sound really, really good. Problems? Drums too low. Cymbals fine, but snare & kick are M.I.A. Voice should come up a few db, too or get doubled to cut thru better.

Guitars sound awesome, tho. Some of the best sounding guits I've heard on this board.

This genre of music usually requires a powerful drum sound... so the kick is a MUST... and the snare is really important...

Love the whammy dip type stuff... cool song. Almost guarantee B.SABBATH and CrankyOne would like this. Nice.

Thanks for the reviews fellas.

The drums were tricky, I used a Zoom drum machine. Funny thing is, on some stereos, like in the car and my pc speakers, the kick and snare have ample punch, but in my home system or on big speakers, they seem muffled.

I agree the vox are a little quiet. I guess I'm trying to hide my voice, hehe.

I'm glad you liked the guitars. I personally felt they were too thick and lacked definition. I use anESP Horizon guitar and a Marshall 60 watt TSL2000.

BTW, does anyone upload their songs higher than 224kbps?
