Shure SM58 for your first microphone. Rugged enough to perform live and can be used in a studio.

If you want a good quality mic go for a condenser, but they wont last in a live environment. The SM58 is also great for recording Snare drums. Its an allrounder, but is not as hi quality as a good condenser for a specific frequency range. but its really cheap compared to others.

Make sure if you are recording your own vocals you check the frequency response of each microphone and make sure they cover your range especially your lowest note/the octave you sing in most. Again go for a condenser.

You can use condensers live too if you make sure to take care ofthem. plenty of people do and they sound way better. but first mic I would always recommen d an sm58, as even when you moove on if you break a mic you have the sm58 to fall back on. NB SM57 SM58SE are not the same, and shops try to sell you these instead sometimes.

Did you 2 guys ^^^^^^ actually read the opening of the thread? He wants a studio mic for duets, acoustic guitar, etc etc, noting about needing it for live use, also he listed the mics he was considering due to them being the ones available, In India.

Cheers
Alan.

stand my what i said. check frequecy response chart for each of them and see which suits your needs best then narrow your list,
Neumann and akg are good quality condensers, if you have money, but theres no point in getting themif they arent right for the frequency range hes trying to cover.

Im trying to help him help himself as the list is too big. get it down to 3 really similar mics and then itll be easier for people to give their opinions.

Anyone giving advise from that list based on what they use them for or their voice/guitar wont necessarily work for an indian vocal range, imo

Well frequency charts mean nothing it's what the mic sounds like, I can't see how he would be better off doing vocals and acoustic guitar with an sm58 over say a rode NT2A? Indian voice? what do you mean by that, how much indian music have you listened too? They do have the biggest recording industry in the world.

:eatpopcorn:

oh I have just seen it, joined in 2001 and have 13 posts?? Whats this about?

you tard, i never said he could hear the difference just narrow down the list to 2/3 then ask for advise
