I am looking to aquire my fisrt condenser MIC, I like the look of the Rode NT1. What is the general consensus on this mic. Has anyone got any suggestions for a fairly low cost all round good condenser mic.

The Rode NT1-A is the revised version of the original NT1.
The Rode NT1 was similar, to my ear, to the AKG C3000 in that
it would sound harsh on most vocalists.
Haven't tried the "new" NT1-A though.
What applications are you planning to use the microphone for?
Is it just for you, or also for others?

I say listen to Harvey (and your wallet) and get the MXL v67g (or somehitng liek that, i cant remember the model number. Its hot looking, and great sounding. If you have a little more money, the Studio Projects C1 is freaking incredible, you cant beat it, i guarantee.
